    摘要: In a scanning image display device including a function to project and display a two-dimensional image on a projection screen using a deflecting unit that repeatedly operates a predetermined reflecting mirror surface to two-dimensionally scan a light beam, a large image distortion inevitably occurs, which is caused by the reflecting mirror surface that repeatedly and two-dimensionally operates for deflection. In order to solve the problem, a free-form surface lens or a wedge or trapezoid prism with a predetermined refractive index and a predetermined vertical angle is disposed in an optical path between the deflecting unit and the projection screen, thereby excellently correcting image distortion that occurs when scanning a light beam.

    摘要: A scanning type projector for scanning an optical beam emitted from a laser light source has a collimator lens and a scanning device. A beam demagnifying and shaping prism is disposed between the collimator lens and the scanning device. The cross section of the beam that is elliptical is demagnified along the major axis of the ellipse such that the cross section of the beam is shaped. Thus, the cross section of the beam fits within the effective diameter of a deflecting mirror incorporated in the scanning device. The optical beam is reflected efficiently. A bright image can be projected. The resolution is improved by the beam shaping effect.

    摘要: In the related art, writing of BCA data has been performed by a BCA cutter or the like after a user data area was formed. However, according to such a method, individual steps cannot help being provided for a disc manufacturing step in order to form the BCA. A burden on the disc manufacturer is large from a viewpoint of the number of disc producing steps and, further, manufacturing costs. By using a bit forming method similar to a user data area, the BCA manufacturing steps can be reduced. Specifically speaking, by devising a pit depth, a pit width, and a pit pattern, a modulation degree of a BCA portion can be further increased. A detecting method similar to that for the BCA in the related art can be applied.

    摘要: An optical pickup compatible with two wavelengths such as an optical pickup having a two-wavelength, multi-laser source unit to be compatible with both DVDs and CDs prevents, in a simply structured optical system, error signal quality deterioration caused by relative shifting between laser beams and realizes detection of focus and tracking error signals. The optical system is provided with an optical waveguide device and a photodetector. The optical waveguide device includes a holographic diffraction grating having three regions divided by two approximately parallel division lines which extend respectively passing the optical axes of a laser beam for DVD and a laser beam for CD. The photodetector has plural light receiving surfaces each divided into three regions. This allows reliable focus and tracking error signals to be detected during both DVD reproduction and CD reproduction.

    摘要: An optical pickup module with enhanced aberration correctability is disclosed. This pickup includes more than two different types of laser light sources, an objective lens for collecting and focusing any one of the laser beams leaving the light sources onto an optical disc, and an aberration correction device of the liquid crystal (LC) type, which is disposed between the light sources and the objective lens. The aberration corrector has a surface on which multiple spaced-apart electrodes are patterned for enabling aberration correction relative to incident beams. The corrector controls the potential of a voltage being applied to each electrode in deference to incident beam properties and variations occurrable thereto, e.g., wavelength, effective beam diameter and relative incidence position offsets, thereby to optimally correct beam aberrations, such as coma aberration or wavefront aberration. An optical information reproduction apparatus using the pickup is also disclosed.

    摘要: An optical pickup for writing information to and/or for reading information from an optical disc having at least two recording layers (dual layer) provided with first and second recording layers can prevent layer crosstalk resulting from disturbing a signal reproduced from the first recording layer by a reflected light beam reflected from the second recording layer during a writing operation for writing information to the first recording layer or a reading operation for reading information from the fist recording layer. An orthogonal polarization region forming component forms an orthogonal polarization region, in which respective directions of polarization of a first light beam focused on and reflected by a first recording layer of an optical disc and a second light beam reflected by a second recording layer of the optical disc are perpendicular to each other, in a region, in which the first and the second light beam overlap each other, on a light-receiving surface of a detector. The orthogonal polarization region forming component is a polarization switch for changing the directions of polarization of part or all of the first and the second light beam.
