Abstract:
An electromagnetic actuator for operating a setting member includes an electromagnet which has a housing provided with a recess having an opening; a yoke body having a surface constituting a pole face of the electromagnet; and a solenoid surrounding the yoke body. The yoke body and the solenoid are accommodated in the housing recess. An armature, to which the setting member is coupled, is guided for motions towards and away from the pole face in a space adjoining the electromagnet. The opening of the housing recess faces the space. A resetting spring exerts a force opposing a motion of the armature towards the pole face.
Abstract:
A method of operating an electromagnetic actuator having an electromagnet provided with a pole face, an armature movable towards and away from the pole face and a resetting spring exerting on the armature a resetting force urging the armature away from the pole face, includes the steps of supplying current to the electromagnet for generating an electromagnetic force moving the armature towards the pole face against the resetting force; and controlling the current supplying step such that at least along a terminal portion of the displacement path of the armature during its approach toward said pole face, the force/time curve of the magnetic force extends substantially parallel to and lies above the force/displacement spring curve of the resetting spring.

In addition, or in the alternative, the number of ribs on both sides of the annular web can deviate from one another. In addition, or in the alternative, the rib assembly can be provided with variable pitch angles around the circumference.

The present invention relates to a piston-type internal combustion engine comprising gas-exchange valves which can be driven in a completely variable manner by a motor control (2) and which communicate with an air supply channel (4) provided with a device (6) for generating a negative pressure using the energy components of the air flowing through said air supply channel (4). This device is provided with means that can be driven for adaptation to the modifications in the flow energy which are inherent to the operation, and communicates with at least one negative-pressure user (8, 9, 10) through at least one negative-pressure duct (7).
Abstract:
An electromagnetic actuator for operating a driven component includes first and second electromagnets having respective first and second pole faces oriented toward one another and defining a space therebetween; an armature disposed between the electromagnets and movable back and forth between the first and second pole faces in a direction of motion; a driving component attached to the armature for moving therewith as a unitary structure; and a resetting spring unit attached solely to the driving component or the driven component and exerting forces opposing movements of the armature caused by electromagnetic forces generated by the electromagnets. The resetting spring unit is in a relaxed state when the armature is in a mid position between the first and second pole faces and is in an armed state upon movement of the armature from the mid position in either direction. A mechanism connects the driving component with the driven component for effecting a transmission of moving forces from the driving component to the driven component to cause displacements of the driven component as a function of displacements of the armature and the driving component.
Abstract:
A method for producing a metal component which is made up of at least two partial elements with differing material properties is distinguished in that a first partial element made of a steel material, which can be tempered, is preassembled in a recess in a second partial element made of a magnetic iron material of low retentivity. A copper based solder is applied to the preassembled component at the recess in the transition area between the first partial element and the second partial element. Thereafter, the component is heated to a temperature which lies above the melting temperature of the solder. After the liquid solder has been distributed in a contact area of the two partial elements, the component is cooled. The component is then brought at least once to the tempering temperature of the steel material of the first partial element, is maintained at this temperature for a predetermined length of time and then is completely cooled.

Abstract:
An electromagnetic actuator for operating a driven member includes an electromagnet having a yoke provided with a pole face and a coil supported by the yoke and adapted to be supplied with electric current to produce an electromagnetic force; and an armature connectable to the driven member and movable in a path of motion into a first position and a second position spaced from the first position. The armature is moved by the electromagnetic forces into the second position in contact with the pole face. A resetting spring is coupled to the armature and exerts a spring force thereon for urging the armature away from the second position toward the first position. The actuator further includes a dampening assembly which has a piston affixed to the armature and a dampening cylinder provided in the yoke and having an open end oriented toward the armature and being in an axial alignment with the piston. In the first position of the armature the piston is axially spaced from the dampening cylinder. The piston enters the dampening cylinder solely during a terminal portion of the path of motion of the armature during displacement thereof toward the second position.
