Abstract:
The invention relates to a reversible oral adhesive gel. The reversible oral adhesive gel is suitable for application to lips to inhibit oral (mouth) breathing and to promote nasal breathing and thereby prevent or ameliorate snoring and to correct respiratory problems.
Abstract:
A system and method for receiving direct sequence spread spectrum transmissions with both chip code and frequency uncertainty including a parallel frequency acquisition technique for increasing receiver sensitivity and increasing process gain while reducing a preamble duration required for spread spectrum acquisition. The system and method include techniques for reducing effects of jamming and impulse noise on receiver performance via enhanced antenna diversity by constructively combining received signals. Further, techniques are provided which compensate for chip code alignment drift, providing an associated transmitter maintains carrier and chip code coherence, by comparing received signal energies at varying chip code alignments. These techniques enable the use of lower cost frequency setting crystals in both the receiver and transmitter as well as provide for system operation over a wider temperature range.
Abstract:
A method utilizing intentionally generated in-band frequency harmonics to compensate for frequency error and frequency drift in a voltage controlled oscillator of a receiver, thereby eliminating the frequency synthesizer and RF divider required in conventional designs. The method includes modulating the intentionally generated frequency in a predetermined manner so that a receiver can identify the intentionally generated frequency and includes the use of plural frequency harmonics for use in a curve fitting technique to correct frequency error in the voltage controlled oscillator.
Abstract:
A wireless alarm system using spread spectrum transmitters, fast frequency shift keying, spread spectrum receivers and computer with a display. The spread spectrum transmitter includes an oscillator coupled to a microprocessor with chip code generation means, preamble register, address register and data register. The spread spectrum receiver acquires synchronization of the spread spectrum signal using a microprocessor coupled to the quieting, signal strength or baseband output of the receiver, with a two step algorithm. The steps comprise achieving a coarse lock and a fine lock to the spread spectrum signal.
Abstract:
A passive type forward/aft indicator for mounting on an aircraft refueling tanker. The indicator providing the appearance of an ascending liquid thermometer for guiding an aircraft to be refueled. The indicator providing proper longitudinal positioning underneath the tanker. The indicator can be used equally well for space docking and other types of rendezvous missions.
Abstract:
A propeller includes a rotatable hub with a plurality of sockets, blades with roots that fit in the sockets and a plurality of pitch blocks which fit between the blade root and the socket walls. Hubs with two, three, and four sockets are shown. The blades have no twist and are formed of molded, glass reinforced nylon. The pitch blocks are also nylon and different pairs of pitch blocks may be used to hold the blades at different angles. All nylon components are designed to minimize stress concentrations. The hubs although also of nylon have steel reinforcing plates within them which take the centripetal forces. These forces are transmitted through bolts to passage walls in the pitch blocks, and from the pitch blocks through interengaging teeth to the blade roots. A snap on, snap off aerodynamic spinner is also provided.

Abstract:
Described are methods and apparatus, including a method of manufacture, for a compact antenna. Two biconical dipole antennas and a monocone monopole antenna are displaced in an adjacent and orthogonal configuration. The two biconical dipole antennas are each shunted to the monocone monopole antenna.
Abstract:
A modeling tool for determining the impact that a data warehouse solution will have upon a business organization considering implementing a data warehouse solution. The modeling tool is implemented on a server computer with restricted access through a client computer. A server computer includes: a business impact model comprising a mathematical representation of a data warehouse solution, and an assessment questionnaire; and a modeling application for calculating a value of a data warehouse solution to a business organization from the business impact model and assessment questionnaire answers. A client computer is connectable to the server computer for receiving a copy of the business impact model, and providing offline collection of answers to the assessment questions, and offline calculation of a value of the data warehouse solution to the business organization. An application residing on the server computer keeps a record of the business impact model received by the client computer.
Abstract:
A pumping system including a fluid inlet line and a primary pump for the fluid. The primary pump includes an impeller in an impeller chamber, with the impeller chamber adapted to receive fluid from the inlet line. A suction chamber is above the impeller chamber, with a throttle opening between the impeller chamber and the suction chamber. A priming pump is adapted to draw fluid through the throttle opening into the suction chamber. A fluid path is provided around the impeller chamber and between the inlet line and the suction chamber, with the fluid path having a larger area than the throttle opening and including a float restrictor.
