    摘要: A display device has a screen made of a substrate and a group of elongated illuminators that are arranged on the substrate. Elongated electrode supporters are arranged on at least one side of the illuminators in the width direction. The elongated electrode supporter has plural electrodes that am spaced along the longitudinal direction of the illuminator and define corresponding discharge cells. A wiring conductive pattern is formed on the substrate for supplying electricity to the plural electrodes of the electrode supporter. Selective light emission from the discharge cells of the illuminator is controlled by signals applied to the wiring conductive pattern and the plural electrodes.

    摘要: A plurality of arc tubes are arranged in parallel with the long side of a rectangular screen, a plurality of first electrodes and second electrodes are arranged on the display surface side of the arc tube array in the direction intersecting the longitudinal direction of the arc tubes, and a plurality of third electrodes are arranged on the back side of the arc tube array along the longitudinal direction of the arc tubes. At the time of screen display, the third electrodes are used as scan electrodes and a scan voltage is applied sequentially to the plurality of third electrodes. In the meantime, a voltage is applied to a desired first electrode or second electrode so that discharge takes place in a desired light-emitting cell and a light-emitting cell is selected. Thereafter, display discharge takes place between the adjacent first electrode and second electrode thus performing display.

    摘要: A display device includes elongated display tubes each of which has a discharge gas filled and a phosphor layer formed in the tube; a flexible sheet; a plurality of electrodes; and an adhesive layer. Each of the tubes is flat elliptical in cross section and has a plane section. The flexible sheet abuts against the plane sections of the tubes to support the tubes. The plurality of electrodes are arranged on the tubes abutting surface of the flexible sheet, for applying a voltage to the tubes to generate discharges within the tubes. The adhesive layer is disposed on the tubes abutting surface of the flexible sheet to bond the flexible sheet to the plane sections of the tubes so that the electrodes of the flexible sheet face the plane sections when the flexible sheet abuts against the plane sections of the tubes.

In the display device including a group of display tubes arranged in parallel for emitting light by gas discharge, plural transparent auxiliary electrodes for display are arranged in the length direction on the outer surface of the tubular vessel that defines a discharge gas space of each of the display tubes, so that the position of a discharge portion is determined. The auxiliary electrodes at the same position in the length direction of the vessel are connected to one another electrically via a band-like power supplying conductor provided on a front substrate, and a back substrate is arranged on which a band-like conductor is provided along each of the display tubes at the back side of the group of display tubes.

    摘要: In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, a color display device (10) includes a plurality of gas discharge tubes disposed side by side. The gas discharge tubes have respective phosphor layers (4R, 4G, 4B) of different materials for different colors disposed therein and containing discharge gas therein. Each of the gas discharge tubes has a plurality of light-emitting points disposed along the length thereof. The color display device further includes a plurality of display electrodes disposed on the display screen side of the gas discharge tubes, and a plurality of signal electrodes (3) disposed on the rear side of the gas discharge tubes. Voltage control layers (6R, 6G, 6B) are disposed between the phosphor layers and the signal electrodes. The voltage control layers are made of materials which change firing voltages applied between the display electrodes and the signal electrodes. The materials of the voltage control layers are selected for the different materials of the different phosphor layers so as to minimize the difference of the firing voltages for the plurality of gas discharge tubes.

    摘要: In an AC-driven gas discharge display device and especially a plasma tube array type, a return path is provided for alternate discharge current flowing between X and Y driver circuits. The AC-driven gas discharge display device comprises a front-side, transparent substrate and a rear-side substrate sandwiching therebetween a plurality of thin discharge tubes arranged side by side; a plurality of pairs of display electrodes on an inner surface of the front-side substrate; and a plurality of address electrodes, in a direction transverse to the plurality of display electrodes, the rear-side substrate on an inner surface. Striped light-blocking, electrically conductive films are disposed on an outer surface of the front-side substrate at locations between respective ones of the pairs of display electrodes and coupled at their opposite ends to respective points of a common reference potential in the X- and Y-electrode driver circuits, respectively, to provide a return path for alternate discharge current.
