Abstract: A system and method for forming bulk requests and prioritized grant assignments in a mixed network environment utilizing a request-grant or similar protocol and prioritized grouping of data as a function of Logical Channel Group (LCG). Described herein is the generation of a second network bulk request from a plurality of first network BSRs, which causes the generation of a bulk grant. Further described is the grouping of data from a plurality of UE, each having a data siloed into logical channel groups (e.g., LCG0-LCG3), and reorganizing the data into a first priority LCG data set (e.g., LCG0 data) comprising the LCG0 data from each of the plurality of UEs, a second priority LCG data set (e.g., LCG1 data) comprising the LCG1 data from each of the plurality of UEs, etc.

Abstract: A system and method reducing grant uncertainty is described. The present system and method is implemented in a two network system having a front haul network, such as an LTE network, and a backhaul network, such as a DOCSIS network. In practice, the present system determines when requests for network resources are not complete satisfied and auto generates a new grant or modifies an existing grant to accommodate the portion of the previous request that was not satisfied. Embodiments are shown and described where implementation occurs in the front haul system and in the backhaul system.

Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for altering communications of a LTE wireless communication system operating in an RF band with a conflicting WiFi system. In one embodiment, an LTE system includes a wireless base station operable to transmit downlink communications to a UE in the RF band and to receive uplink communications from the UE in the RF band. The LTE system also includes a processor operable to detect the uplink communications from the UE, to estimate a location of the UE based on the detected uplink communications, to determine a communication capability between the UE and the wireless base station based on the location of the UE, and to downgrade the downlink communications from the wireless base station to the UE based on the determined communication capability to avoid interference with the WiFi communication system.

Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for an eNodeB operating in an RF band comprising a conflicting wireless technology. One exemplary eNodeB assigns an ID to a UE, processes a scheduling request for UL data from the UE, processes another scheduling request for second UL data from the UE, determines priorities of the first and second UL data based on priority indicators in the scheduling requests, and grants time and frequency for the UE to transmit the first and second UL data. The eNodeB also waits until the UE performs an LBT operation. The LBT determines whether the granted time and frequency are occupied by another wireless system comprising a different wireless technology. The eNodeB also determines that the first UL data is stale, and transmits the ID to the UE to reserve the granted time and frequency for the second UL data when unoccupied by the other wireless system.

Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for increasing a contention window of a UE employing a LTE communications operating in a radio frequency (RF) band comprising a conflicting wireless technology. In one embodiment, an eNodeB receives a transport block of data from a user equipment (UE). The transport block includes a cyclic redundancy check (CRC). The eNodeB then determines a checksum of the transport block based on the CRC, fails the checksum, and transmits a non-acknowledgement (NACK) of the transport block to the UE based on the failed checksum. The UE, in response to the NACK, increases a contention window and re-transmits the transport block to the eNodeB.

Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for channel reservation for a wireless telephony system operating in an RF band with a wireless system comprising a conflicting wireless technology. One method is operable with an eNodeB. The method includes assigning an ID (e.g., a pseudorandom number sequence, or “PN sequence”) to a user equipment (UE) operating in the RF band, processing a scheduling request for uplink (UL) data from the UE, and granting a time and a frequency for the UE to transmit the UL data. The method also includes waiting until the UE performs a Listen Before Talk (LBT) operation to determine whether the granted time and frequency is occupied by another wireless system employing a different wireless technology. The method also includes transmitting the ID to the UE to reserve the granted time and frequency when unoccupied by the other wireless system, and processing the UL data from the UE.
