    Abstract: A drain for a fuel-water separator (FWS) bowl is disclosed. The drain may include a valve element configured to float in a first fluid and not in a second fluid, wherein the valve element is in a valve element chamber of the drain, wherein the valve element chamber includes an opening configured to drain the first fluid from the valve element chamber, and wherein the valve element seals the opening when the drain is in an open position and when the first fluid has been drained from the valve element chamber; and a member configured to unseal the valve element from the opening when the drain is in a closed position.

    Abstract: A damper box includes a curved wall, an outlet, a side wall, and filter and a damper. The curved wall has an outside surface, an inside surface, and a separator sandwiched between an outside air inlet and a recirculated air inlet. The side wall is disposed between the recirculated air inlet and the outlet. The filter has a curvature matching the curved wall and covering the outside surface of the curved wall. The damper has an axis of rotation adjacent to and in alignment with the separator. The damper has a first face and a trailing edge. The first face is curved and configured to mate with a curved frame disposed about the outside air inlet. The trailing edge is configured to mate with the side wall. A ratio of outside air to recirculated air is modulated in response to the damper being rotated.

    Abstract: A filter cartridge assembly includes a fitting with a lid and a throat. The lid includes a handle and spring. The handle is configured to receive torque and linear force and translate these forces to the lid. The spring has a first and second catch disposed opposite ends. The spring is configured to mate with and fully reside within a lid groove in response to the first catch being drawn towards the second catch. The spring is configured to partially extend annularly outwardly from the lid groove in response to the first catch and the second catch being allowed to return to a biased position. The throat receives the lid and a throat groove disposed about the throat is configured to receive the extended portion of the spring partially extending from the lid groove. The lid is captured in response to the spring mating with the throat groove.

    Abstract: A system comprising a drain for a fuel-water separator (FWS) assembly and a sensor is disclosed. The sensor may include a sensing element that is attached to the drain, wherein, when the drain engages the FWS assembly, a cavity is formed by an endcap at least partially within the FWS assembly and by at least one of the drain or the sensor, wherein the sensing element is exposed within the cavity, wherein a first side of the cavity is at least partially open, and wherein a second side of the cavity is formed by at least one of the drain or the sensor, wherein the cavity is configured to receive fluid through the first side and collect the fluid in the cavity to trigger the sensing element.
