Abstract:
Controlling a multiphase electric motor by controlling the transmission of power to a first set of phases of a multiphase electric motor in accordance with a first operating configuration; detecting the presence of a shorted phase in the first set of phases while the first set of phases are being operated in accordance with the first operating configuration; and, responsive to detection of the shorted phase, adjusting control of the transmission of power to the multiphase electric motor such that power is transmitted to a second set of phases in accordance with a second operating configuration.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a system and method for integrating power distribution for subsea boosting and direct electrical heating (DEH) of at least one subsea flowline. A subsea power cable located in a subsea environment is electrically connected to at least one power generator at a topsides location and delivers power to a subsea switchgear module which connects to subsea adjustable speed drives (ASD). At least one pump motor is electrically connected to at least one of the ASD, and at least one capacitor bank is electrically connected to at least one of the subsea ASD. A subsea pressure boosting pump is driven by the pump motor. At least one capacitor bank is electrically connected to at least one of the subsea ASD. At least one DEH is electrically connected to at least one of the subsea ASD in series with the at least one capacitor bank and in contact with the at least one subsea flowline. Power is distributed to the boosting and DEH equipment more efficiently and cost effectively.
Abstract:
An interface is provided for a modeling application that determines required current required to deliver a target heat in a direct electrical heating system. The interface facilitates the input of input values implemented by the modeling application without requiring the configuration of an entire model. A technique for determining adjustments to required current between computational iterations reduces the number of iterations needed to converge on a solution.

Abstract:
A multiphase electric motor for a down-hole electrical submersible pump having a rotor having a first set of rotor voids filled or partially filled with permanent magnetic material. The electric motor having a stator with three or more stator slots, three or more stator teeth and three or more coils. Individual ones of the three or more coils are wound about at least one of the individual ones of the three or more stator teeth, and positioned such that adjacent coils are non-overlapping or partially overlapping to form a fractional slot per pole per phase winding. The electric motor having a power supply configured to provide power to the three or more phase windings formed by series or parallel combination of the three or more coils and a controller configured to control transmission of power through the three or more windings.
Abstract:
A system for transmission of power offshore comprises two or more power stations operably connected with a high voltage cable system. The high voltage cable system may comprise a dynamic, dry type high voltage submarine cable of varying length configured to transmit at least about 45 megawatts of power. In some cases the dynamic, dry type high voltage submarine cable comprises a first end connected to an offshore power station and second end connected to a static submarine cable system which is connected to an onshore power station. The systems may facilitate transmission of power for applications such as compressing and/or pumping subsea natural gas in deep water.
