    摘要: A method of controlling a computer window display of a display system having a display surface of one or more physical screens, provides an integrated workspace wherein multiple applications are displayed, by category, in a coordinated, predetermined area of the display surface. In response to a request inputted to the display system, the requested application display is created. A category of the requested display is ascertained. A lookup is performed in a configuration file to find a match between the category of the requested display and an entry in the configuration file. When a match of categories is found, the display characteristic data is obtained to get the position and size of the display. A pointer points to the next available area of the display area for the category of interest, and the display is created to be positioned within the selected available window.

    摘要: A logic gate structure having functionally redundant architecture for enhanced production yields and reliability comprises a plurality of two-input nodes at least some of which may be programmed by control states for changing the logical function of the gate structure. Redundancy is provided by gate structure implementations in which the number of possible control states exceed the number of logic functions expected of the gate structure. Redundancy increases the probability of gate structure operation despite logic faults and renders the gate structure suitable for use in adaptable problem solving machines such as robots and pattern recognition apparatus.A number of embodiments are disclosed including three and four input variable networks. Some such embodiments include selected architectural simplifications wherein certain nodes in a network are either logically fixed or entirely omitted to reduce the number of control lines.

    摘要: There is provided a process control system having a display program that permits an program designer to create and edit dynamic picture objects in a persistent heap and save the heap to a storage medium. The display program rapidly reads the dynamic picture objects from the storage medium and invokes the objects for viewing on the system's interactive display. When the persistent heap is subsequently read from the storage medium by an operator, the dynamic picture objects stored in the heap do not need to be instantiated and, thus, invocation of the objects is accelerated and optimized. Accordingly, the persistent heap greatly improves the speed in which picture objects can be read from the storage medium, processed by the display program and called-up to the interactive display.

    摘要: A system for, and method of, emulating, on a non-native computer, a native environment for a visual display object file for a real time process control system and a real time process control system employing the emulator. The visual display object file contains a drawing command, an address pointer for communicating data with the real time process control system and a rule for interpreting data received from a touch-sensitive screen. The system includes: (1) a display routine that causes the non-native computer to control a non-native visual display coupled thereto to display an image thereon as a function of the drawing command, (2) an address mapping routine that communicates the data between the visual display object file and the real time process control system as a function of the address pointer and (3) an input translation routine that translates data received into the non-native computer from a non-native pointing device coupled thereto into data suitable for interpretation by the rule, the system thereby allowing the non-native computer to display the image, communicate the data with the real time process control system and interpret the data received from the non-native pointing device.

    摘要: In a display system having a display surface of one or more physical surfaces, a method controls the presentation of application displays in a multi-window computer environment wherein multiple application displays are displayed. Further, any application display requested to be displayed is caused to be displayed by the method in one of the multi-windows in response to an operator select action. The method comprises the steps of outputting selectable options for each window as specified in a configuration file. The configuration file defines window properties for each window of the multi-window display. The selectable options provide indications of where application displays are to be presented. The option selected is read by the Workspace Management System. The application display is outputted to conform with the option selected, the option indicating the replacement of current application displays with subsequent application displays.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for resonant frequency testing of free standing turbine blades made of a material, such as titanium, that is not responsive to a magnetic field is disclosed. A lightweight shim 12 made of a magnetically responsive material such as steel, weighing on the order of 0.5 grams, is attached to the convex side of the blade 10. The shim 12 is excited by an oscillating magnetic field and moves the blade 10 accordingly. The maximum amplitude of blade 10 movement is recorded and used to determine the resonant frequency as the excitation frequency of the magnetic field is swept through a frequency window range. The low weight of the shim 12 does not materially change the resonant frequencies of the blade 10.

    摘要: A multiple input logic gate that is amenable to full testability without the "buried logic" problem of conventional VLSI logic devices and a novel dynamic test method for increasing fault-free production and simplified analysis of sub-chip faults. In one disclosed illustrative embodiment of the logic gate of the invention, the device comprises a replicated, hierarchial arranged group of six two-variable input gates to form a three-variable input gate and two such three input gates and associated logic control structure are provided on a single VLSI integrated circuit chip. Each two-variable input gate is controlled by its own programmed logic array thereby providing a selection of any of the possible 256 Boolean functions for each of the three-variable input gates on a chip. A highly advantageous dynamic test method exploits the regular hierarchial architecture of the inventive logic gate to provide top-down evaluation of each two-variable input gate until the six-gate structure is fully tested. The test method is implemented by clocking the two-variable input gates through their respective sixteen Boolean function sequentially and displaying a video map of gate output signals which will conform to a specified pattern when the device is fault-free.
