Hydrophilic polyester resin is provided by the method comprising reacting an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or diester thereof, a diol and a polysiloxane-polyether copolymer wherein the polysiloxane backbone is endblocked with a hydroxyl-substituted organic group and the polyether portion of the copolymer comprises polyoxyethylene. The resulting silicone-modified polyester is especially suited for making hydrophilic fiber and film.

Aminosiloxanes bearing 4-amino-3,3-dialkylbutyl substituents are prepared by a multistep process including addition of 2,2-dialkylacetonitrile to vinylic siloxanes, hydrogenation of the nitrile adducts so formed to yield 4-amino-3,3-dialkylbutyl siloxanes, and optional equilibration of the latter with other siloxane sources, to form aminosiloxanes, which are useful for the treatment of textiles and fabrics and for the preparation of siloxane-containing block copolymers.

Linear alkylsilicone compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein x=0 to 20, preferably 0 to 10, most preferably 0 to 1; y=1 to 10, preferably 1 to 5, most preferably 1; and R is an alkyl or alkyl ester group containing 6 to 16 carbons, or cyclic alkylsilicone compounds of the formula ##STR2## where m is 0 to 4, preferably 0 to 2, most preferably 0, and n is 1 to 5, preferably 3 to 5, most preferably 4, provided that m+n=3 to 5, are adjuvants for agricultural applications of oil-containing compositions. Especially preferred alkylsilicone compounds have a degree of polymerization of .ltoreq.6 and an alkyl content of .ltoreq.50% by weight. The compounds potentiate spreading of mineral or vegetable oils or oil-containing emulsions in dormant spray oils, crop oil concentrates, pesticides, and the like on difficult-to wet surfaces such as waxy leaf cuticles and arthropod exoskeletons.

Novel compositions of silicone/polyether block copolymers are provided which are useful as surfactants in several classes of polyurethane foam production. While conventional copolymers have a polysiloxane backbone with pendant polyethers, the surfactants of the present invention are the reverse with siloxane pendants on a polyether chain. These novel non-hydrolyzable polysiloxane polyoxyalkylene copolymers which are characterized by an "inverted" structure, i.e., polyoxyalkylene backbones with lateral and/or terminally pendant polysiloxanes, represent species that are of a narrow molecular weight and compositional distribution and are free of unreacted polyether or non-modified silicone oil diluent. These surfactants are useful in various urethan foam systems and can also display aqueous wetting properties.
