    摘要: A multiple position or continuously variable capacitive switch which operates by producing a series of discernable changes in the capacitance between a pair of conductors (14,16) disposed in a spaced coplanar relationship on a surface of a non-conductive substrate (12). A dielectric layer (18) is applied over the conductors (14,16) and exposed areas of the substrate (12) surface. A resilient conductive pad (20) is positioned atop the dielectric layer (18) and a user movable actuator (28) is moved to controllably increase the capacitance between the conductors (14,16) by creating progressively greater areas of compression between conductive pad (20) and dielectric layer (18).

    摘要: An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system (11), especially for a diesel engine, having a valve (25), including a valve stem (29,31) and an actuator operable to move the valve (25) between the open (FIG. 1) and closed positions. The actuator includes an electric motor (47) which provides a low torque, high speed rotary output (51) to an input gear (53) of a reduction gear train (55). The output of the gear train is a relatively high torque, low speed rotation of an output gear (79), which is connected by a linkage (83,85) to the input stem (31) of the valve. The gear train (55) includes a torque limiting clutch (67,69) to protect the teeth of the gears, and a coupling arrangement (91) joins the valve stems (29,31) to permit mis-alignment therebetween.

    摘要: A servo motor operated rotary air throttle has a driving member connected to the throttle shaft. The motor rotor is connected to the driving member in a lost motion connection. If the throttle is lodged due to ice formation, the motor rotor acquires rotary momentum relative to the driving member during the lost motion rotation and a projection on the rotor impacts the end of a slot in the driving member to impart a momentum pulse to the driving member and throttle shaft and dislodge the throttle.

    摘要: An added-motion hydraulic valve system is disclosed. The added-motion hydraulic valve system includes an engine valve actuator that causes movement of an engine valve, fluid that moves through a solenoid actuator valve, and a fluid actuator housing having a volume for receiving said fluid. The volume is disposed between the engine valve actuator and an engagement end of the engine valve. A lash adjuster assembly for a valve system is also disclosed. The lash adjuster assembly includes an actuator fluid housing and an added motion hydraulic lash adjuster disposed within the actuator fluid housing. According to an embodiment, the lash adjuster assembly includes a mechanical lash adjuster actuated by a cam arrangement.

    摘要: A stalk operated switch assembly having a stalk or lever end-mounted on a housing includes a button on the free end which is user rotatable for effecting rotation of a cam within the housing. The housing includes a plurality of capacitive switches aligned thereon. Each switch is made by applying alternate layers of conductive and dielectric ink and curing to form individual pairs of spaced capacitive plates. A conductive elastomer pad is disposed over each pair of plates and compressed against the plates by an individual actuator for each pad. The individual actuators are moved by one of plural concentric cam tracks formed on the rotor. The stalk type rotary multiple capacitive switching assembly has application for automotive windshield wiper delay circuit control.
