摘要: A servo motor operated rotary air throttle has a driving member connected to the throttle shaft. The motor rotor is connected to the driving member in a lost motion connection. If the throttle is lodged due to ice formation, the motor rotor acquires rotary momentum relative to the driving member during the lost motion rotation and a projection on the rotor impacts the end of a slot in the driving member to impart a momentum pulse to the driving member and throttle shaft and dislodge the throttle.

Linkages (26,28) interconnect opposed ends of a lever (18;136) respectively, with accelerator and throttle. The lever rotates upon a pivot (20;126) which is selectively displaceable to effectively shorten or lengthen the linkage in response to an operator independent signal from a control circuit (42).

摘要: A variable valve actuation assembly (41) to be mounted about a camshaft (43) including a concentric portion (47) and an eccentric portion (49) which orbits the axis of rotation (A1) of the camshaft and defines an axis (A2). The assembly (41) includes a secondary cam member (51) surrounding the concentric portion (47) and including a cam surface (59,59L). The assembly (41) also includes an arm assembly (61) which surrounds the eccentric portion (49), and defines a longitudinal axis (A3) perpendicular to, and intersecting the axis (A2). The arm assembly (61) can pivot about a pin (71), and at the opposite axial end is pivotally connected to the secondary cam member (51) by means of a pin (75). Rotation of the camshaft (43) causes the arm assembly (61) to pivot about the pin (71) in one direction, rotating the cam member (51) to lift the valve (17), then pivot in the other direction, rotating the cam member (51) in the opposite direction.

摘要: A driveline master clutch assembly is disclosed where a unidirectional ball ramp mechanism is used to apply a clamping load to a clutch pack for frictionally coupling a prime mover such as an engine to a gear change transmission. The ball ramp mechanism includes index plates to limit the rotation of a control ring and an activation ring such that the energized ball ramp mechanism increases in separation distance to increase the clamping force on the clutch pack whenever there is slippage in the clutch pack irregardless of the direction of torque flow through the master clutch assembly.

摘要: In a transmission inertia brake a ball ramp mechanism is used to load a clutch pack to slow a rotating transmission shaft where the clutch pack is carried on a one piece drive assembly having a gear section for meshing with a transmission gear, an extension section for engaging a thrust plate in an isolator assembly, a clutch section for engaging plurality of driven clutch plates in the clutch pack and a bearing section for rotational support within a brake housing. An armature having an angled peripheral surface engages a mating friction surface formed in an end plate to form a core clutch, the armature being magnetically pulled upon energization of an electrical coil energized by a power signal from a control unit supplied through a sealed electrical connector thereby introducing a frictional braking force on the armature to activate the ball ramp mechanism. The armature is nonrotatably connected to the control ring of the ball ramp mechanism through at least one connecting pin. A Belleville spring is used to apply an axial load on the ball ramp mechanism and to drive the star in a gerotor oil pump which interacts with a ring to pump cooling lubricant throughout the clutch pack in the ball ramp mechanism.

摘要: A differential gear mechanism including a clutch assembly (35) for retarding rotation between a side gear (23) and a gear case (11,45), and a ball ramp actuator for actuating the clutch assembly. The ball ramp actuator includes an inner actuating plate (49) within the gear case, and an outer actuating plate (51) disposed external to the gear case. In order to initiate ramp up of the ball ramp device, an electromagnetic coil assembly (67) includes an annular coil (75) which is disposed in face-to-face relationship with the outer actuating plate (51). An annular drive plate (83) is disposed between the coil (75) and the outer actuating plate (51), and is drawn into frictional engagement with a layer of friction material (81) upon energization of the coil. The drive plate (83) is connected by pins (89) to be axially movable relative to the outer actuating plate, but fixed to rotate therewith, such that frictional engagement of the drive plate (83) retards rotation of the outer actuating plate (51).

摘要: A transmission shifting system for axially displacing a jaw clutch having a plurality of axially and/or radially beveled teeth for engagement with a plurality of engagement cavities formed in a mainshaft gear where a ball ramp actuator or a cam ramp mechanism is used to axially displace the jaw clutch. An electrical coil is used to electromagnetically couple a control ring to the mainshaft gear using a clutch plate and an actuation ring is nonrotatably connected to the mainshaft. In an alternative embodiment, the actuation ring is formed as part of the jaw clutch and the control ring remains stationary relative to a mainshaft. A plurality of flux grooves are utilized to channel magnetic forces between the clutch plate and the mainshaft gear.

摘要: Selectively engagable auxiliary leaf springs (38 or 138) for vertically supporting a vehicle chassis (32) on an axle assembly (22 or 102) in parallel with main suspension springs (34 or 114). In three of the disclosed embodiments, both ends (38b,38a) of the auxiliary springs (38) are pivotally attached. In two other embodiments, one end (138a) of the auxiliary leaf springs (142) is pivotally attached and the other end (138b) is rigidly affixed in cantilever fashion. Actuators (56, 139 or 159) are employed to selectively enable or increase load supporting of the auxiliary leaf springs.
