摘要： The present invention provides a recording/reproducing apparatus capable of realizing proper recorded-content management on a large-capacity storage device. The content data recorded on the recording medium is managed with the content age computed by a lapse time from its recording date-and-time and a genre, and automatically deleted with priority of higher content age. Meanwhile, the user is allowed to instruct delete-prohibition management on a content not desired for automatic deletion. The content data placed under delete-prohibition management is excluded from a subject of automatic deletion. Meanwhile, concerning the delete-prohibition management, an upper limit value is provided. By disabling to unnecessarily placing a great deal of content data under delete-prohibition management, secured is a recording domain during automatic picture-recording or so.

摘要： When the user of a receiving apparatus presses a notice button provided for a remote controller to indicate the preference concerning the person or thing appearing on the screen of the program being viewed, the corresponding signal is transmitted to the receiving section of a set-top box. A view-log storage section stores an input operation command (including the signal indicating that the notice button has been pressed) together with the receiving time thereof as a view log. A view-information generating section reads the view log, generates a view-information packet, and outputs it to a bidirectional communication section. The bidirectional communication section transmits the view-information packet input from the view-information generating section to a broadcasting apparatus through a bidirectional communication network.

摘要： A digital video reproduction method, a digital video reproducing (playing) apparatus and a digital video recording and reproducing (playing) apparatus that allows a spectator to easily and precisely shift (jump) the playing position to a scene of his choice an then start playing from a desired scene. According to such digital video reproduction method, digital video reproducing apparatus and digital video recording and reproducing apparatus, a time bar corresponding to the timeline for the video contents is displayed on the screen. Then, an icon showing the starting position of the event scene that is peculiar to the motion picture is displayed. Upon operating a remote controller, the spectator selects an icon of his choice by moving a cursor to the icon, so that the reproduction of image can be started from the starting position of the event scene corresponding to the selected icon.
