Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products for providing video-based authentication are provided. Aspects include receiving a master video comprising a recording of a first plurality of objects. Aspects also include identifying each of the first plurality of objects using image recognition techniques. Aspects also include receiving a user selection of a plurality of authentication objects, where the plurality of authentication objects are a subset of the first plurality of objects. Aspects also include receiving a user authentication request comprising an authentication video. The authentication video is a recording of a second plurality of objects. Aspects also include identifying each of the second plurality of objects using image recognition techniques. Aspects also include authenticating a user associated with the user authentication request in response to determining that identifications of a subset of objects of the second plurality of objects match identifications of the plurality of authentication objects.

Abstract: A method for charging a battery pack containing a plurality of cells is disclosed. The method includes receiving capacity information for a voltage adjustable set of the plurality of cells from two or more fuel gauges. Each of the two or more fuel gauges is associated with one cell in the adjustable set. The method further includes identifying a target cell for increasing charge voltage based on the capacity information. The method further includes sending a signal to a charge voltage controller associated with the target cell. The signal is configured to cause the charge voltage controller to increase charge voltage on the target cell. The charge voltage controller is one of a plurality of charge voltage controllers. Each of the plurality of charge voltage controllers is associated with one or more cells in the voltage adjustable set.

Abstract: An example method includes enabling, by the user processing system, a user to associate a color with at least one of the plurality of pixels of a graphic, and generating a passcode. The passcode is based at least in part on the color associated with the at least one of the plurality of pixels. The method further includes transmitting, by the user processing system, the passcode to a host processing system. The method further includes determining, by the host processing system, whether the passcode matches an expected passcode that is based at least in part on a reference graphic comprising a plurality of reference pixels, each of the plurality of reference pixels having a color or a null value associated therewith. The method further includes, responsive to determining that the passcode matches the expected passcode, authorizing, by the host processing system, the user processing system to access a restricted resource.

Responsive to receiving a user authentication request comprising an authentication pin and an authentication matrix, aspects further include authenticating a user.

Abstract: A starter battery with a total battery voltage exceeding a supply voltage requirement of an electrical system. An alternator provides a charging voltage that corresponds with the supply voltage requirement of the electrical system. A total battery voltage equal to the sum of cell voltages exceeds the supply voltage requirement of the electrical system. A step-down voltage regulator reduces the total battery voltage to correspond with the supply voltage requirement and a boost voltage regulator increases the charging voltage from the alternator when charging the starter battery to the total battery voltage. When detecting a degraded cell, the step-down voltage regulator continues to regulate the total battery voltage to correspond with the supply voltage requirement after the cell has degraded and the boost voltage regulator is bypassed when charging the starter battery to no longer increase the charging voltage from the alternator when charging the starter battery.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for detecting one of multiple possible abnormal conditions associated with a flexible, pouch-type energy storage device of an electronic device. The apparatus includes a stiffener, a pressure sensor and a control component. The stiffener overlies a main surface of the storage device. The pressure sensor is disposed between the stiffener and an inner surface of the electronic device to monitor for pressure between the stiffener and the inner surface indicative of an abnormal condition associated with the storage device. The control component is coupled to the pressure sensor and detects the abnormal condition based, at least in part, on the monitored pressure exceeding a specified threshold, and performs and action based thereon. The abnormal condition may include excessive external force being applied to the energy storage device, or excessive internal swelling of the energy storage device during charging, or during use.

Abstract: A rechargeable lead-acid battery is provided. The rechargeable lead-acid battery includes a casing, a grid structure and an electro-mechanical assembly. The casing defines an interior configured to accommodate plates and a supply of fluid that is electrically reactive with the plates to generate electricity. The grid structure is interposed between lower edges of the plates and a bottom of the casing. The electro-mechanical assembly is coupled with the grid structure and operable to agitate the grid structure.

An example method includes receiving, by a host system, a passphrase comprising a plurality of words, the passphrase being provided for authentication of a user. The method further includes generating, by the host system, an image selection grid comprising a plurality of images, each word from the passphrase corresponding to one or more images from the image selection grid. The method further includes receiving, by the host system, a plurality of selected images from the image selection grid. The method further includes storing, by the host system, the selected images as a login challenge for the user.
