摘要:
An image processing apparatus reads color images, identifies the colors of an read color image, converts the color image into a monochrome image, synthesizes color recognition information on the monochrome image, and prints the resulting synthesized image as a monochrome image. As a result, even if a low-priced printer is employed, it is possible to provide a monochrome image permitting recognition of the colors of the color original, or quick identification of differences among the colors thereof. Moreover, this allows a user to specify a desired graphic pattern to be associated with a given color, and to obtain collation tables independently of the monochrome image, or to print the specified graphic pattern with any variable magnification power.

An RFID tag formed on an original includes a storage unit which stores data representing, e.g., the number of times of scan of the original and the generation from a parent original, and a transmitter/receiver which transmits and receives the data by radio. A read/write circuit receives data from an RFID tag of an original by radio. On the basis of the received data, read of the original is controlled. While the original is being read, the received data is edited in accordance with the control. The read/write circuit transmits and writes the edited data in the RFID tag.

In an image forming apparatus which requires the user to manually input sheet medium information, (when a bundle of sheets which include a plurality of types of print media are to be printed, the user must manually input setups of the image forming apparatus for each individual print medium. In manual setups by the user, some setups require user's knowledge about print media. When the user has made wrong setups, a print result cannot be obtained under an appropriate control condition Furthermore, when information about a print medium is sensed by the sensor without manual setups, the information cannot be often precisely detect depending on the type and thickness of the print medium, an environment, and the like, and it is consequently difficult to attain optimal image formation. It is an object of this invention to attain optimal image formation, saving user labor and shortening the print time by using a radio tag attached to the sheet medium. An image forming apparatus which forms an image on a sheet medium, has means for reading information from a information holding means, such as a minuscule radio chip, attached to the sheet medium, and means for manually inputting information of the sheet medium, and controls an image forming condition using either information.

A method and apparatus for recognizing character information in an original document with high recognition accuracy regardless of the size of a character to be recognized. An input image is processed by an image processing circuit and stored in an image recording unit. A character region in the recorded image data is detected by a recognition section, and the image corresponding to the detected character region is read with a predetermined magnification. Character recognition is performed on the image of the character region read at the predetermined magnification, in the recognition section. If the recognition accuracy does not satisfy a predetermined criterion, the same image is read again with a modified magnification wherein the magnification is determined on the basis of preset sizes and the size of the character pattern of a character to be recognized. The image obtained in this way is subjected again to character recognition processing until the recognition accuracy satisfies the predetermined criterion. A character pattern corresponding to the recognized character is generated, and recorded together with the image recorded in the image recording unit in an image recording section. Thus, an image is read with a magnification optimized depending on a character size of an original document image and on a recognition accuracy.

An image processor rotates an image in conformity with the orientation of an original, thereby enhancing user convenience. An original conveyed by an automatic conveyance device is read by an image reader and the image is stored in an image memory. A character in the stored image is subsequently recognized by a character recognition unit and the orientation of the character is discriminated. The image is rotated by an image editor in conformity with a stapling position, and the rotated image is recorded by an image recording unit. Sheets of paper on which images are recorded are stapled at the stapling position by a staple provided in a sorter.

The present invention aims at restoring backup data in a predetermined order and avoiding damage from being given to the system even when the backup data are destroyed. Flags Ferr and Feeprom and a variable i stored in a DRAM are initialized (S1 to S3). When the variable i is smaller than the number n of EEPROMs (hereinafter referred to as “PROM(s)”), the ID code of a PROM in question is read and loaded into the DRAM (S4 to S6). When the variable i equals the number n, the variable i is cleared (S7). Then, a variable j is initialized (S9), and it is determined whether or not each PROM ID stored in the DRAM matches with a mask ROM ID until the variable j becomes greater than the number n of PROMs (S11). If the answer is “No”, the variable j is incremented (S13), while if “Yes,” a number corresponding to the variable j then assumed is loaded into the DRAM as the flag Feeprom (S14). Data in the PROM in question is transferred to an area of the DRAM in which is stored the PROM ID matching with the mask ROM ID.
