The present invention discloses a molded product which is heat-resistant, has a high elongation and is produced by a process including the steps of (1) curing a substantially linear polyarylene thioether having a melt viscosity of about 1,000 to 15,000 poise, thereby forming a polyarylene thioether resin having a melt viscosity of about 5,000 to 16,000 poise and a non-Newtonian coefficient, n, of about 1.5 to 2.1, (2) melt extruding the formed polyarylene thioether resin, (3) taking off the extruded polyarylene thioether resin at an R.sub.1 (ratio of the taking-off speed to the extruding speed at the nozzle of the melt extruded product) of about 10 to 1,000 and (4) crystallizing the taken off polyarylene thioether resin until its crystallization degree is not lower than 20 wt %; and coated electric wires having the above molded product as a coating layer.

A process for forming a polyarylenethioether stretched blow molded vessel, by a modified blow molding of a substantially linear polyarylenethioether having a melt viscosity of 3,000 to 20,000 poise [at 310.degree. C., shear rate=200 sec.sup.-1 ]. The modified blow molding involves injecting the polymer in a mold to form a bottomed parison, stretching the bottomed parison along its axis by means of a rod or mandrel, and the stretched bottomed parison is then subjected to blow molding to effect lateral stretching. The blow parison is then heat set.

Novel polyarylenesulfide complexes are obtained by reacting a polyarylenesulfide with 0.05 to 20 mols of at least one strongly basic metal compound per 100 mols of arylenesulfide groups contained in the polyarylenesulfide under a uniformly dispersed condition, and have the properties defined in the following (A) through (C):(A) .eta.*/.eta..sub.0 *=3 to 100, wherein the .eta.* and .eta..sub.0 * stand for melt viscosities of the complex and the starting polyarylenesulfide, respectively;(B) .DELTA.T.sub.c2 =(T.sub.c2).sub.0 -T.sub.c2 =10 to 100.degree. C., wherein T.sub.c2 and (T.sub.c2).sub.0 stand for crystallization temperaturs of the complex and the starting polyarylenesulfide, respectively, observed when the polyarylenesulfide is cooled from its moten state; and(C) .DELTA.(.DELTA.E)=.DELTA.E-(.DELTA.E).sub.0 =5 to 75 kcal/mol, wherein .DELTA.E and (.DELTA.E).sub.0 stand for apparent flow activation energies of the complex and the starting polyarylenesulfide, respectively.The polyarylenesulfide complexes have higher melt viscosity with improved flow characteristics.

Corrosion of a melt-processing apparatus for processing a polyarylene thioether at a temperature higher than the melting point thereof is prevented by a method which comprises adding to 100 parts by weight of the polyarylene thioether 0.001 to 10 parts by weight of at least one member selected from the group consisting of (i) hydroxides of metals of the group IIa of the Periodic Table, (ii) oxides of metals of the group IIa of the Periodic Table and (iii) aromatic carboxylic acid salts of metals of the group IIa of the Periodic Table.By this method, even if the melt-processing article obtained is exposed to moisture, the electrical properties of the article formed (for example, insulation characteristics) and the water resistance are not substantially deteriorated.

The invention provides a polyglycolic acid sheet obtainable by melt-extruding a thermoplastic resin material into a sheet in a temperature range of from the melting point, Tm of the polymer to 255.degree. C., wherein the thermoplastic resin material comprises polyglycolic acid having a repeating unit represented by the following formula (1): ##STR1## and the following physical properties: (a) the melt viscosity, .eta.* �as measured at a temperature of (the melting point, Tm of the polymer+20.degree. C.) and a shear rate of 100/sec! being 500-100,000 Pa.s;(b) the melting point, Tm being at least 150.degree. C.;(c) the melt enthalpy, .DELTA.Hm being at least 20 J/g; and(d) the density being at least 1.50 g/cm.sup.3 as measured in an unoriented, crystallized form, and the sheet has tensile strength of at least 60 MPa, and a production process thereof.
