摘要: The present invention includes a hydrogel and a method of making a porous hydrogel by preparing an aqueous mixture of an uncrosslinked polymer and a crystallizable molecule; casting the mixture into a vessel; allowing the cast mixture to dry to form an amorphous hydrogel film; seeding the cast mixture with a seed crystal of the crystallizable molecule; growing the crystallizable molecule into a crystal structure within the uncrosslinked polymer; crosslinking the polymer around the crystal structure under conditions in which the crystal structure within the crosslinked polymer is maintained; and dissolving the crystals within the crosslinked polymer to form the porous hydrogel.

摘要: The invention described herein generally pertains to a composition that includes a silyl-terminated polymer having silyl groups linked to a polymer backbone via triazole. The silyl-terminated polymer is a reaction product of a functionalized polymer backbone and a functionalized silane. The polymer backbone includes a first functional group, which may be one of an azide or an alkyne. The functionalized silane includes a second functional group may also be one of an azide or an alkyne, but is also different from the first functional group. The functionalized polymer backbone is reacted with the functionalized silane in the presence of a metal catalyst.

摘要: Methods of preparing reinforced anion exchange membranes are provided, as well as produced membranes and corresponding devices utilizing the membranes. Methods comprise compounding a halide-functionalized polymer (selected to react with amines to yield anion-conducting quaternary amine groups) with thermoplastic polymer(s) (selected to support and/or reinforce the membrane), and with copolymer(s) (selected to enhance the compounding of the polymers)—by heating, mixing and cooling—to form blend pellets, extruding the blend pellets to form a blend film, cross-linking polymer(s), and functionalizing the blend film to prepare the anion exchange membrane. Functionalization comprises a quaternization step comprising reacting halogen groups of the first polymer with tertiary amines to produce the quaternary amine groups with ion-exchange functionality. Reinforced anion exchange membranes are provided, which are produced by the disclosed methods, functionalized to yield a membrane for fuel cell(s), electrolyzer(s), reversible electrochemical device(s), desalination unit(s), etc.

摘要: The present invention is a process to produce Z-Chitosan to provide consistent and long-lasting antimicrobial, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-spore, and anti-odor characteristics, the process comprises steps of preparing a liquid active agent comprising 50 ppm to 5,000 ppm aqueous solution of each of a Chitosan group, a herbal extract group, and a catalyst group using an emulsion crosslinking method for 24 to 144 hours at normal room conditions; preparing a powder form of the active agent by drying the liquid active agent; encapsulating the powder form of the active agent within a plastic, a polymer, a fabric to make a masterbatch of the product, and finally blending 1 to 10 percent of the masterbatch with a batch of plastic, polymer, or fabric to make an antimicrobial product, whereby the product shows antimicrobial and self-sanitizing efficacy for contact time between 2 hours to 24 hours and maintains its antimicrobial efficacy in the scale of years in different environment conditions.

摘要: A method of forming a polymeric composition includes the steps of melt blending an ethylene-silane copolymer and a halogen free flame retardant masterbatch comprising halogen free flame retardant dispersed in an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer to form the polymeric composition, wherein the ethylene-silane copolymer is a random copolymer of units derived from ethylene and vinyltrimethoxysilane and further wherein the copolymer has a vinyltrimethoxysilane content of 0.5 wt % to less than 2 wt % based on the total weight of the ethylene-silane copolymer; and processing the polymeric composition into a plurality of particles.
