摘要:
The present invention relates to a fiber for artificial hair having a hollow in a center of a fiber cross section. A ratio of an area of the hollow to an entire area of the fiber cross section is 5% to 50%. The fiber cross section has a flat multilobed shape, and the hollow has a first side and a second side that are inclined 70 to 110 degrees relative to a major axis of the fiber cross section. The present invention also relates to hair ornament products including the above fiber for artificial hair. Thus, the present invention provides a fiber for artificial hair having a favorable curl setting property when curling with a hair iron and a favorable combing property after curling with a hair iron, and hair ornament products including the same.

Described here are polyphenylene sulfide (“PPS”) polymers having significantly improved processability. It was surprisingly found that PPS polymers, terminated with specific end-capping agents in specific amounts, had significantly improved melt stability. Because of the significantly improved melt stability, the PPS polymers can be advantageously incorporated into melt processing techniques.

A poly(phenylene sulfide) fiber changes little in fiber structure and has excellent long-term heat resistance. Namely, the poly(phenylene sulfide) fiber has a degree of crystallization of 45.0% or higher, a content of movable amorphous components of 15.0% or less, and a weight-average molecular weight of 300,000 or less.

A laminated body that exhibits heat resistance, chemical resistance, good interfacial adhesion, good varnish-impregnation and also has a three-dimensional formability and results in low variability in the shapes of the products in a forming process and an excellent forming process yield. The laminated body includes a thermoplastic resin sheet layer having a heat of crystallization of 10 J/g or more and a wet-laid nonwoven layer including polyphenylene sulfide fibers and having a heat of crystallization of 10 J/g or more, the wet-laid nonwoven layer being stacked on at least one surface of the thermoplastic resin sheet layer without an adhesive therebetween.

A process for producing fiber from polyarylene sulfide, by melt spinning a polyarylene sulfide into a gas, cooling the spun filaments with a blown gas, taking the filaments off at a high speed, storing the spun filaments, drawing the spun filaments in two stages and after treatment stage, and immediately thereafter heat setting the drawn filaments. Fibers produced by the invention have excellent mechanical properties including tensile strength and transverse strength, and the process is very efficient.

The present invention pertains to a process for the production of an article comprising a polymer itself comprising poly(phenylene sulfide), which process comprises:A. contacting poly(phenylene sulfide) with at least one organic compound, consisting essentially of carbon and hydrogen, and optionally oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, halogen, or mixtures thereof, having a molecular weight of between about 110 and 450 daltons and having at least one six membered aromatic ring structure, which compound is stable at a temperature of between 160.degree. and 400.degree. C. at ambient pressure, at a temperature of between about 160.degree. and 400.degree. C. at ambient pressure for a time effective to dissolve greater than 10 percent by weight of the poly(phenylene sulfide) present, with the proviso that when oxygen is present, the organic compound is not diphenyl oxide or substituted diphenyl oxide;B. forming the solution of poly(phenylene sulfide) and solvent of Step (A) into a desired article configuration;C. removing the solvent; andD. recovering the article comprising poly(phenylene sulfide) formed thereby. The article is particularly useful when it is in the shape of a thin membrane, hollow fiber or solid fiber and is porous, permeable, semi-permeable or selectively permeable.

High-quality polyarylene-thioether fibers are provided, which simultaneously satisfy the following conditions:(a) the polyarylene-thioether is a linear polyarylene-thioether having a melt viscosity of 5,300 to 20,000 poise (at 310.degree. C. and a shear velocity of 200 second.sup.-1);(b) the fiber diameter is in the range of 1 to 50 microns;(c) the tensile strength is not less than 40 kg/sq.mm;(d) the tensile modulus of elasticity is not less than 500 kg/sq.mm; and(e) the tensile strength at 200.degree. C. is not less than 20 kg/sq.mm.The fibers are produced by continuously melt-spinning a linear polyarylene-thioether polymer having a melt viscosity of 5,300 to 20,000 poise (at 310.degree. C. and a shear velocity of 200 second.sup.-1), continuously stretching the spun filament, and continuously heat-setting the stretched filament for 0.02 to 100 seconds at a temperature of not lower than the melting point of the polymer minus 100.degree.
