Abstract: The invention relates to a high-voltage electrode with a plurality of individual electrodes arranged mutually in parallel, these electrodes being electrically connected in groups or all of them together and being characterized in that the high-voltage electrode exhibits an elongated, elastically deformable strip of an electrically insulating material; that the individual electrodes are arranged perpendicularly to the longitudinal extension of the strip and project past one of the longitudinal edges of the strip with their tips; and that an electric conductor is mounted in the longitudinal extension to at least one flat side of the strip.

Abstract: A high voltage electrode device including a plurality of individual electrodes having end portions projecting beyond an insulating surface and arranged to form at least one group or electrically connected electrodes and apparatus for energizing and deenergizing each group of electrodes. The energizing and deenergizing apparatus includes a high voltage source associated with a respective group and having a control input for turning off the high voltage source wherein the high voltage source provides an output to the group via a current measuring device providing an output indicative of the current measured. A voltage measuring device is connected to the associated group and provides an output indicative of the voltage measured, and quotient forming unit responsive to the outputs of the current measuring device and the voltage measuring device forming a quotient thereof and providing an output when the quotient formed has a predetermined relation to a reference value. The control input is responsive to the output of the quotient forming unit for turning off the high voltage source of the associated group.

Abstract: An antistatic device for reducing electrostatic charges on moving material webs may include an active positive electrode assembly having a plurality of active individual positive electrodes electrically connected to a positive high voltage source. The device may include an active negative electrode assembly having a plurality of active negative electrodes electrically connected to a negative high voltage source. A sensor system may be included for detecting a polarity of a neutralizing current between the material web and the antistatic device during operation of the antistatic device, and a controller for controlling the high voltage sources. The controller may be coupled to the sensor system and may be at least one of programmed and configured to one of active or leave activated the high voltage source required in each case and one of deactivate and leave deactivated the high voltage source not required in each case in response to the detected polarity of the neutralizing current.
