Abstract:
Improved audio processing management in a portable converged communication device is provided. A default mode of audio processing is provided where audio input to a microphone is routed and processed simultaneously to a plurality of different processors in parallel. The default mode is suspended in response to a keyword input to a microphone. The keyword is recognized by a speech recognition engine (ASR). The keyword enables audio processing through one of the plurality of processors while selectively suspending other audio processing through the other processors.
Abstract:
A portable radio communication device is provided that receives communications on a primary channel and a secondary channel as part of a dual-watch mode of operation. The portable radio communication device detects a gesture associated with the portable radio communication device and identifies a channel from one of the primary channel and the secondary channel corresponding to the detected gesture. Further, the portable radio communication device associates controls of a user interface in the portable radio communication device to the identified channel for controlling one or more operational parameters pertaining to the identified channel during the dual-watch mode of operation.
Abstract:
Techniques for radio frequency uplink performance assessment utilizing downlink erasure frame analysis are provided. An indication of if a received frame has been determined to be an erasure frame is received from a plurality of receiver wireless communications devices. The indications of if the received frame has been determined to be an erasure frame are aggregated. The frame identified by the frame identifier is declared to be an erasure frame when at least one of the plurality of wireless communications devices has indicated the received frame has been determined to be an erasure frame. That an error occurred on an uplink between the sender wireless communication device and the RAN is determined when the frame is declared an erasure frame.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided by which a radio communication device with multi-watch receivers improves the comprehension of a high-priority message when the high-priority message is overlapped in time with a normal-priority message. A first receiver of the radio communication device receives a first incoming message over a first channel, and a second receiver of the radio communication device receives a second incoming message over a second channel. The radio communication device, upon receiving the first and second incoming messages, detects that a portion of the first incoming message overlaps in time with a portion of the second incoming message. The radio communication device further determines whether at least one of the first or the second incoming message is a high-priority message and repeats the determined high-priority message when at least one of the first or second incoming messages is a high-priority message.

A video interval may be broken into a plurality of sub-intervals, and unique random image substitution may be carried out over each of the sub-intervals in connection with the video redaction.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for distinguishing voice signals that are played together over the same speaker employs spectral reshaping of one or more of the audio signals. The spectral reshaping shifts modifies the timber of the voice signal while not modifying the pitch of the voice signal. Additional techniques can be used to further distinguish voice signals, such as dynamic gain offset and frequency shifting. After processing one or more signals to spectrally reshape them, they can be played over the same speaker. A user hearing the resulting acoustic signal will be more able to distinguish between the multiple voice signals being played.
