摘要: Plastic optical fibers or plastic optical fiber cores with good high temperature resistance to optical attenuation loss are prepared from a cyclic block copolymer characterized by a: A. Weight ratio of hydrogenated conjugated diene polymer block to hydrogenated vinyl aromatic polymer block of 35:65 to 10:90; B. Number average molecular weight (Mn) of from 40,000 to 150,000, grams per mole (g/mol); and C. Hydrogenation level such that each hydrogenated vinyl aromatic polymer block and each hydrogenated conjugated diene polymer block has a hydrogenation level of at least 95 percent.

摘要: A turbidity measurement system includes a sample assembly that contains a plurality of samples, a light source that illuminates the sample assembly, and a light detection system that includes a two-dimensional light-sensitive array. The light-sensitive array is simultaneously exposed to light transmitted through each of the samples in the sample assembly. The exposure is analyzed to determine a mean transmitted light intensity for each sample and to calculate a turbidity value for each sample based on its mean transmitted light intensity. Multiple exposures may be taken during a measurement period so as to obtain time-resolved turbidity measurements of the samples. The temperature of the samples may be varied during the measurement period so as to measure turbidity as a function of temperature.

摘要: A fiber optic probe apparatus useful for conducting Raman spectroscopy remotely over optical fibers with minimal interference from Raman scattering within said fibers which includes three elements. The first element is at least one transmitting optical fiber having a first end and a second end. The second element is at least one collecting optical fiber for collecting light from a sample positioned near the first end of the transmitting optical fiber, the collecting optical fiber having a first end and a second end, the first end of the collecting optical fiber being in closely spaced relationship with the first end of the transmitting optical fiber wherein the longitudinal axis of the first end of the collecting optical fiber converges with the longitudinal axis of the first end of the transmitting optical fiber at an angle of less than forty five degrees. The third element is at the heart of the invention. The third element is a rejection optical filter in optical communication with the second end of the collecting optical fiber.
