In a method of scheduling transmission services over a high speed packet access communication link such as a HSDPA and/or a HSUPA link a list of queues is created for transmission services to be provided over the link. The queues, which include both Real Time and Non Real Time queues, are allotted respective service priorities based e.g. on a channel quality indicator and/or a Quality of Service indicator to produce an ordered list of queues based on the service priorities. The link resources needed for serving at least one set of queues having higher priorities in the ordered list are estimated and a check is made. If these resources are available, the set of queues having higher priorities in the ordered list are served. If the resources required are not available, at least one queue is removed from the ordered list of queues.

The method includes the steps of defining at least two status parameters including a first status parameter or load status parameter adapted to reach a first set of status ranges, depending on the measured uplink load value and the current downlink total load value; a second status parameter or packet congestion flag adapted to reach a second set of status ranges, depending upon reaching of a congestion status in a packet management procedure; and adopting different sets of managing strategies associated with the radio resources management procedures of the network as a function of the at least two status parameters being in the respective sets of status ranges. Preferred application is in UMTS mobile networks.

A method of adjusting the transmission station parameters in a digital video broadcasting network, includes determining, in at least one area element of a geographic area of interest, delays among signals received from a plurality of transmission stations; calculating, based on the determined delays, transmission delays to be applied to the transmission stations of the plurality, wherein the calculated transmission delays are adapted to reduce the delays among the received signals; and applying the calculated transmission delays to the transmission stations of the plurality. The choice of the timing parameters is based on a repetition of a random perturbation of a control parameter and the consequent evaluation of the result of the result obtained.

A system and related device emulates the behavior of mobile networks independently from the manner of collecting data about the behavior of the network obtained through a simulation of field measurements. The system emulates the behavior of the network during the exchange of information between terminals and uses an emulation device comprising two circuit blocks. The first is able to process the information according to time sequences corresponding to those of mobile networks. The second one exchanges information between the terminals connected to suitable interfaces. This architecture makes it possible to emulate uplink and downlink functions of the mobile network, displaying on the terminals the effects of the behavior of the network under various operating conditions.

The simulation method includes the steps of simulating at least a first and a second configuration of the mobile telephone network that are statistically independent one from the other. Each one of the steps of simulating includes at least the steps of: determining a number of mobile terminals generating a packet data traffic; assigning to a list of mobile terminals included in the number of mobile terminals generating a packet data traffic, at least one shared-access channel of the mobile telephone network to be simulated; and performing a scheduling management algorithm of the list of mobile terminals on the shared-access channel.
