摘要: A method and apparatus for cooling includes a chassis and a midplane mounted in the chassis. More than one airflow opening is formed in the midplane. A temperature measuring sensor is mounted in the chassis. More than one heat generating module is positioned on a first side of the midplane and more than one adjustable airflow generating component is positioned on a second side of the midplane to generate an airflow through each opening. A controller is coupled to determine an output for adjusting each airflow generating component in response to the temperature sensed by each sensor.

摘要: The present disclosure relates, in some embodiments, to modular information handling systems configured to automatically adjust coolant flow upon insertion and/or removal of heat-releasing elements (e.g., blades). A system may comprise, for example, a chassis at least partially defining a cavity, at least one fan in fluid communication with the cavity and operable to move coolant through at least a portion of the cavity, and one or more bays. Each of the one or more bays (a) may be at least partially defined by a bay wall, (b) may be configured to receive a heat-releasing element, and/or (c) may comprise an obturator configured to conditionally block fluid communication between the bay and the chassis cavity, the fan, and/or a coolant, wherein the obturator allows fluid communication when a blade is present in the bay and blocks fluid communication when a blade is absent from the bay. A system may further comprise at least one heat-releasing element positioned in at least one of the one or more bays.

摘要: A media retaining and registration apparatus retains and aligns media by pulling the media to a registration location rather than pushing the media to registration in preparation for finish processing of the media, including stapling, hole punching, binding or the like. The apparatus includes a holding bed adapted to receive media thereon; a registration wall disposed adjacent the holding bed for providing an alignment reference area for the media on the holding bed; at least one finger movably disposed adjacent the registration wall; and, means for moving the at least one finger such that contact is made with a surface of the media in the holding bed for pulling and positioning the media adjacent the registration wall. The finger is disposed on a rotatable shaft adjacent the registration wall, and is configured to contact and retain the media in the holding bed and also pull the media in the holding bed to the registration wall as the shaft is rotated. Upon further rotation of the shaft, the finger is configured to slide over the media and rotate around to capture and slidably retain an edge of a next media received by the holding bed. Preferably, the finger is formed of an elastomer material.

摘要: An ink jet print head (10) has a supply channel (14, 24, 52) connecting an ink source with an upper manifold (60U) and a lower manifold (60L). Each manifold has a tapered structure. From each manifold multiple inlet channels (36, 34, 44, 54) each lead to a respective pressure chamber (28) from which an outlet channel (40, 38, 46, 56, 62, 76, 82) leads to nozzles (88) from which droplets of liquid ink are expelled as a result of the action of a pressure transducer on the pressure chamber. Each manifold is separated from the supply channel by a baffle structure (92) that includes three baffles (94) formed by alternating plates (64, 78) having an open manifold with plates (58, 72) having a blocked manifold. The baffle structure reduces jetting nonuniformity by damping pressure displacement waves in the ink caused by the expulsion of ink droplets. The baffle structure also promotes effective heat transfer from the print head to ink being drawn in to the print head from the ink source. The print head is operated by drawing ink from the supply channel through the baffle structure to replace ink drawn from the manifold as a result of expulsion of ink from the nozzles.

摘要: A printer calibration system and method enables images to be properly aligned over a printable medium in printing systems that use (i) one or more non-ideally shaped image transfer elements and/or (ii) when the one or more image transfer elements behave eccentrically. The systems and methods greatly improve color plane registration and correct for repetitive alignment problems associated with image transfer elements. Non-circularity imperfections associated with image transfer elements are determined. Then the image transfer elements are moved at a non-constant angular velocity to compensate for the circular imperfections.

摘要: A system and method for detecting blank modules includes an information handling system including at least one computing component, a modular chassis, a management module, and one or more sensors. The modular chassis includes one or more slots where each slot is operable to receive either the computing module or a blank module. The computing module interfaces with the management module whereby the management module is operable to detect the presence of one or more of the computing modules in one or more of the slots. The sensors are associated with each of the slots and detect if one or more of the blank modules are installed in one or more of the slots. In addition, the sensors provide an indication to a user when one or more of the slots are empty and do contain neither a computing module or a blank module.
