Abstract: An engine system comprises a two stroke engine, an exhaust manifold, a tuned pipe coupled to the exhaust manifold and a turbocharger coupled to the engine. The turbocharger comprises a turbine inlet coupled to the exhaust manifold through the tuned pipe, and a turbine outlet coupled to an exhaust pipe. A silencer is coupled to the exhaust pipe. A bypass pipe has a first end coupled to the tuned pipe and a second end bypassing the turbine outlet and a wastegate disposed in the bypass pipe.

Abstract: A system for starting an engine of a vehicle has a fuel injector injecting fuel into a closed intake port to form an air fuel mixture. The system also includes an actuator rotating a crankshaft in a first direction to open the intake port by moving a piston within a cylinder coupled to the crankshaft. A combustion chamber defines between the cylinder and the port receiving the air fuel mixture through the intake port. The actuator rotates the crankshaft in a second direction to close the intake port. A spark plug ignites the air fuel mixture to start the engine. The engine also includes many other disclosed features.

Abstract: An engine system and method of operating the same includes a two stroke engine, an exhaust manifold coupled to the two-stroke engine, a tuned pipe coupled to the exhaust manifold coupled to the exhaust manifold, a stinger pipe coupled to the tuned pipe, a silencer coupled to the tuned pipe and an exhaust pipe, and an exhaust bypass valve. Exhaust gases are directed from the two stroke engine through an exhaust manifold and through a tuned pipe. An opening of the exhaust bypass valve is changed to redirect exhaust gases away from the tuned pipe to change a pressure within the tuned pipe. In response to changing the opening of the exhaust bypass valve, the airflow through the engine is changed.

Abstract: A system and method of operating the same includes an engine speed sensor determining an engine speed, an exhaust gas bypass valve, an exhaust gas bypass valve actuator coupled to the exhaust gas bypass valve and a controller. The controller partially opens the exhaust gas bypass valve with a first predetermined effective area greater than fully closed when the engine speed is at idle. The controller determines an acceleration event, holding the exhaust gas bypass valve open at least a second predetermined effective area greater than fully closed in response to the acceleration event.

Abstract: A coolant bottle defines a first chamber and a second chamber fluidly coupled to the first chamber at a valve seat. The first chamber is fluidly coupled to a source of heated engine cooling fluid, while the second chamber is fluidly coupled to an engine water pump. A thermally responsive actuator is disposed within the first chamber, and has a thermally actuated sliding member having a valve seat engaging surface. The thermally actuated sliding member is movable from a first open position to a second closed position when the coolant is above a first temperature. The thermally responsive actuator is disposed within the first chamber.

A throttle position sensor generates a throttle position signal corresponding to a position of a throttle plate of a throttle. A boost box is coupled to the two-stroke engine. A boost box pressure sensor is coupled to the boost box and generates a boost box pressure signal corresponding to a pressure within the boost box. A controller is coupled to the boost box pressure signal controlling a position of the electronically controlled exhaust valve in response to the boost box pressure signal and the throttle position signal.
