Abstract: In an aspect, a multiphase ferrite comprises a Co2W phase that is optionally doped with Ru; a CFO phase having the formula Mer“Co1−rFe2+zO4, wherein Me” is at least one of Ni, Zn, or Mg, r is 0 to 0.5, and z is −0.5 to 6 0.5; and a CoRu-BaM phase having the formula BaCox+yRuyFe12−(2/3)x−2yO19, wherein x is 0 to 2, y is 0.01 to 2; and the Ba can be partially replaced by at least one of Sr or Ca. In another aspect, a composite can comprise a polymer and the multiphase ferrite. In yet another aspect, a method of making a multiphase ferrite can comprise mixing and grinding a CoRu-BaM phase ferrite and a CFO phase ferrite to form a mixture; and sintering the mixture in an oxygen atmosphere to form the multiphase ferrite.

Abstract: In an aspect, a composition comprises a plurality of magnetic particles. The magnetic particles each independently comprise a nickel ferrite core having the formula Ni1−xMxPe2+yO4, wherein M is at least one of Zn, Mg, Co, Cu, Al, Mn, or Cr; x is 0 to 0.95, and y=−0.5 to 0.5; and an iron nickel shell at least partially surrounding the core, wherein the iron nickel shell comprises iron, nickel, and optionally M. In another aspect, a method of forming the magnetic particles comprises heat treating a plurality of nickel ferrite particles in a hydrogen atmosphere to form the plurality of magnetic particles having the iron nickel shell on the nickel ferrite core. In yet another aspect, a composite can comprise the magnetic particles and a polymer.

Abstract: A multilayer film includes a substrate; a first magnetic layer disposed on the substrate and a second magnetic layer disposed on the first magnetic layer. The first magnetic layer includes Fe(50-80)N(10-20)B(1-20)M(0-10), wherein M is Si, Ta, Zr, Ti, Co, or a combination thereof. The second magnetic layer includes Fe(50-90)N(10-50) or Fe(60-90)N(1-10)Ta(5-30). The multilayer magnetic film has, over a frequency range of 50 MHz to 10 GHz, a magnetic permeability of greater than or equal to 1800 over a selected frequency band in the frequency range; a magnetic loss tangent of less than or equal to 0.3 over a selected frequency band in the frequency range; and a cutoff frequency of greater than or equal to 1 GHz, or greater than or equal to 2 GHz.

The Co2Z ferrite can have an average grain size of 5 to 100 nanometers, or 30 to 80, or 10 to 40 nanometers as measured using at least one of transmission electron microscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, or x-ray diffraction.
