Abstract:
A vane ring assembly includes a lower vane ring (20), an upper vane ring (30), one or more guide vanes (80) positioned at least partially between the vane rings, and a spacer (50) positioned between the lower and upper vane rings (20, 30) for maintaining a distance between the lower and upper vane rings (20, 30). The spacer has a first end (52) with a first diameter, a second end (54) with a second diameter, and a middle section (56) with a third diameter. The third diameter is larger than the first and second diameters. The first and second ends (52, 54) of the spacer (50) are inserted at least partially into a first counter bore (22) and a second counter bore (32) formed in the lower and upper vane rings (20, 30). A nut (40) and a fastener (42) running through a central through hole (58) of the spacer (50) are used to connect the vane ring assembly to a turbocharger housing. A clearance (c) of greater than e.g. 5% of the fastener diameter is formed between an inside wall (51) of the spacer (50) an outside wall (43) of the metal fastener (42) to offset any thermal expansion or deformation.
Abstract:
A sensor for detecting a parameter of an object includes a probe, a first sensing member for detecting the parameter of an object to be sensed and a second sensing member for determining an orientation of the probe relative to the object to be sensed. The second sensing member communicates the orientation of the probe to a data acquisition device to minimize data analysis errors associated with inaccurate orientation information.
Abstract:
An electric motor system includes an electric motor, a temperature sensor mounted therein capable of measuring a local temperature and generating a temperature related signal, and a processor configured to calculate an actual temperature of a rotor magnet from the temperature related signal, and an actual output torque from the actual rotor magnet temperature. A method for determining the actual output torque of a motor includes sensing a temperature within the motor, calculating a rotor magnet temperature from the sensed temperature, and calculating the actual output mechanical torciue from the rotor magnet temperature.
Abstract:
A blindmate interconnect coaxial connector includes a center conductor, a thermally-conductive dielectric surrounding the center conductor, and an outer tubular conductor surrounding the dielectric. The dielectric transfers heat from the center conductor to the outer conductor, and the outer conductor includes heat transfer fins to radiate such heat. The center conductor is formed by first and second halves which mate within the axial bore of the dielectric. The outer conductor is formed of two mating sections. The center conductor and surrounding dielectric are inserted within the first mating section, and the second mating section is then mated with the first section to complete the assembly of the connector.
Abstract:
A method for maintaining the activity of silicoaluminophosphate (SAPO) molecular sieve catalyst particles during oxygenate to olefin conversion reactions. After regeneration of SAPO catalyst particles, the regenerated particles are mixed with particles having coke on their surface in a manner that maintains their catalytic activity at a predetermined level.
Abstract:
The present invention provides various processes for fluidizing molecular sieve catalyst compositions in a fluidized bed reaction system. The invention comprises fluidizing a molecular sieve catalyst composition with a reactive fluidizing medium under conditions effective to convert at least a portion of the fluidizing medium to additional product. The invention is ideally suited for implementation into an oxygenate to olefin reaction system, in which the fluidizing medium optionally comprises byproducts of the oxygenate to olefin conversion reaction.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a system for detecting and timing the coagulation of blood from a liquid to a clot. The system comprises a vessel containing blood, a member of ferromagnetic material disposed within the vessel, means for providing relative motion between the vessel and the member, and a plurality of Hall effect sensors coupled through the walls of the vessel for sensing the strength of the magnetic flux lines and varying the electrical conductance upon change in the magnetic flux lines when the blood transforms itself and the member changes position relative to the plurality of sensors.
Abstract:
Mechanisms for predicting a remaining useful life of a cutter head of a milling machine that includes a plurality of flutes are disclosed. Features are extracted from reference data associated with a plurality of reference cutter heads. The reference data includes reference vibration data and reference wear data. At least two Neural Network predictive models are trained in parallel for predicting the remaining life of a new cutter head based upon the extracted features. Operational data associated with the new cutter head is obtained. The operational data includes operational vibration data and operational wear data. Features extracted from the operational data are input into an optimal predictive model of the at least two Neural Network predictive models. A remaining useful life of the new cutter head is estimated by the optimal predictive model.
Abstract:
Ergonomic syringe systems provide attachments that may be used to allow users to dispense or draw in fluid with increased operator comfort and reduced risk of repetitive strain injuries. The disclosure describes supports for holding syringes that permit one-handed operation, handles that are removably attachable to syringe plungers and hand supports that are removably attachable to syringe barrels.
