Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a compound represented by formula (I) wherein X is selected from the group consisting of —H, -halogen, linear or branched C1-C7 alkyl group, linear or branched C1-C5 alkoxy group, —NO2 and —CN and Y is a linear or branched C1-C7 alkyl group, comprising the steps of: 10 a) reacting a compound represented by formula (II) with a compound represented by (III) to obtain an intermediate product, wherein X is as defined with respect to formula (I), wherein Z is H, CH3 or C2H5, b) reacting the intermediate product of step a) with a compound represented by Y2SO4 (IV) wherein Y is as defined with respect to formula (I) to obtain a salt and c) hydrolyzing the salt of step b) to obtain the compound of formula (I).

Also described is a composition comprising the metallocene complex, a process for the preparation of the complex, and a process for the polymerization of olefin polymers in the presence of the metallocene complex.
