Abstract: A system may include an access node to deploy a radio air interface to provide wireless services to one or more wireless devices. The access node may include processing circuitry. The processing circuitry of the access node may monitor an amount of packet drops at a shared network device of a dual connectivity access-node-pair. The processing circuitry of the access node may dynamically adjust one or more handover parameters based on the amount of packet drops at the shared network device. The handover parameters may be adjusted to inhibit handovers to the dual connectivity access-node-pair.

Abstract: Systems for mitigating interference in a massive MIMO wireless network include an access node, a plurality of antennae communicatively coupled to the access node, and a processor communicatively coupled to the access node. The processor can be configured to perform operations including communicating with one or more wireless devices within a wireless sector utilizing one or more antennae from the plurality of antennae, and monitoring an interference level within the wireless sector. Upon the interference level meeting a threshold, the processor may be configured to utilize fewer antennae to communicate with the one or more wireless devices. Conversely, upon the interference level not meeting the threshold, the processor may be configured to utilize more antennae to communicate with the one or more wireless devices.

Responsive to determining that the pairing efficiency is below a threshold and/or the resource usage is higher than a threshold, one or more pairing criteria are adjusted to increase MIMO pairing, thereby exploiting the benefits of massive MIMO in wireless networks.

Abstract: Using a scheduler, communication may be scheduled between an access node and a plurality of wireless devices, wherein the plurality of wireless devices comprise one or more relay wireless devices or device to device (D2D) wireless devices. Using the scheduler, at least one relay wireless device or D2D wireless device may be scheduled using a semi-persistent scheduler comprising an adjusted periodicity, wherein a default periodicity used by the semi-persistent scheduler for end-user wireless devices is different from the adjusted periodicity. Data may be communicated between the access node and the at least one relay wireless device or D2D wireless device using the adjusted periodicity.

Abstract: A method and system for controlling an access node includes prioritizing a plurality of wireless devices. The method also includes monitoring a position of a relay-capable wireless device and positions of the prioritized wireless devices. The method also includes determining the position of the relay-capable wireless device meets a first distance criteria and the position of prioritized wireless devices meets a second distance criteria. The method also includes assigning the relay-capable wireless device to a carrier aggregation configuration or an antenna diversity configuration based on the position of the relay-capable device and the position of the prioritized wireless devices. The method also includes assigning the prioritized wireless devices to the diversity configuration or the carrier aggregation configuration based on the position of the prioritized wireless devices.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments described herein include systems, methods, and nodes for managing channel quality for a relay wireless device. Interference experienced in one or more sectors of an access node that include a relay wireless device may be monitored. It may be determined that the monitored interference in at least one sector of the access node meets a mitigation criteria. One or more potential interfering sectors from access nodes neighboring the access node that are performing reference signal power boosting may be identified such that the potential interfering sectors are adjacent to the one sector of the access node. One or more neighboring access nodes may be instructed to selectively reduce reference signal power boosting in the potential interfering sectors.

A method includes identifying a plurality of small cell relay nodes connected to a relay node. The method further includes determining priority data indicative of resource utilization by each of the plurality of small cell relay nodes and types of services utilized by wireless devices connected to each of the plurality of small cell relay nodes. Additionally, the method includes determining a priority for each of the plurality of small cell relay nodes based at least partially the priority data. The method also includes allocating backhaul bandwidth of the relay node to each of the plurality of small cell relay nodes based at least partially on the priority for each of the plurality of small cell relay nodes.
