    Abstract: A display apparatus includes a display panel including a first pixel, a common voltage generator and a timing controller. The common voltage generator generates a reference common voltage, and provides the reference common voltage to the first pixel. The timing controller determines a dithering scheme for the first pixel based on first common voltage information, and generates first output pixel data by applying a dithering function to first input pixel data based on the dithering scheme for the first pixel. The first common voltage information indicates whether the reference common voltage is substantially equal to an optimal common voltage of the first pixel. A first data voltage provided to the first pixel is generated based on the first output pixel data. A polarity of the first data voltage is reversed with respect to the reference common voltage for each predetermined duration. A phase of the first data voltage is symmetric or asymmetric with respect to the reference common voltage depending on the dithering scheme for the first pixel.

    Abstract: A method of compensating an image to be display on a display panel is disclosed. In one aspect, the method includes receiving a first input image and adjusting a contrast sensitivity of the first input image. The method also includes calculating a first derivative of luminance of a pixel included in the adjusted image, calculating a second derivative of the luminance of the pixel, and accumulating the first and second derivatives. The method further includes determining a burn-in causing boundary based at least in part on the accumulated first and second derivatives, receiving a second input image, and comparing the burn-in causing boundary to a boundary of the second input image to determine whether to apply burn-in compensation. The method finally includes compensating a portion of the second input image corresponding to the burn-in causing boundary based at least in part on an unsharpening filter.

    Abstract: A method of driving an electro-wetting display panel including a pixel part is provided. In the method, data voltages are applied to the electro-wetting display panel during a first time of a frame. The frame has the first time and a second time. The first time has a plurality of horizontal periods. The data voltages are generated based on reference gamma voltages. At least one of reference gamma voltages of one of the horizontal periods is different from another of the reference gamma voltages of another of the horizontal periods. A reset voltage is applied to the electro-wetting display panel during the second time of the frame.
