    Abstract: A liquid-crystal display (LCD) device includes a first substrate having pixels defined thereon, an insulating layer disposed on the first substrate, a pixel electrode disposed on the insulating layer in each of the pixels, an alignment layer disposed on the pixel electrode, a second substrate facing the first substrate, a wavelength conversion layer and a transmission layer disposed on the second substrate to face the first substrate, a common electrode disposed on the wavelength conversion layer and the transmission layer to face the first substrate, and a liquid-crystal layer interposed between the alignment layer and the common electrode. Each of the pixels includes an open area including at least one first side and that at least partially overlaps with the wavelength conversion layer and the transmission layer, and the insulating layer includes a pattern of grooves disposed adjacent to the at least one first side of the open area.
