Abstract: An electronic device and a method for controlling the electronic device are provided. The method includes acquiring event information and determining a target user from among a plurality of users to receive the event information, based on stored user information. Additionally, the method includes acquiring device information about at least one of the electronic device and at least one external electronic device corresponding to the target user, determining a target device to provide the event information, based on the device information, and then providing an event output signal for outputting the event information, to the target device. Further, the method includes determining a method for outputting the event information through the target device, based on an event output scheme of the target device, and a privacy level of the event information.
