Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling permissions of a UE for accessing a network. A method disclosed herein includes initiating, by a User Equipment (UE), a registration procedure with a serving network for accessing a selected network, wherein the selected network includes one of at least one CAG cell of an NPN and a VPLMN. The registration procedure indicates a network selection mode using which the UE has selected the network and the network selection mode includes one of an automatic mode and a manual mode. The method further incudes determining, by the serving network, a reject mode for rejecting the registration request of the UE based on the network selection mode indicated in the registration request, when the permissions of the UE to access the selected network have not been verified, wherein the reject mode includes a protected reject mode and an unprotected reject mode.

Accordingly the embodiments herein provides a method and system for ciphering of initial NAS message protection procedure. A UE is registered to a first PLMN and a first 5G NAS security context has been established. The UE selects a second PLMN. The UE sends Initial Registration procedure with only cleartext IE to the second PLMN. The second PLMN may initiate and perform authentication procedure. The second PLMN initiates NAS Security mode control procedure and sends a Security Mode Command message containing the selected NAS ciphering method to the UE. The UE sends entire the Registration Request message containing both cleartext IE(s) and non-cleartext IE(s) using the NAS ciphering method sent in the Security Mode Complete message. The second PLMN send Registration Accept message.

Embodiments herein disclose a method of handling a paging message on a multi-subscriber identity module (SIM) user equipment (UE), the method comprising: receiving a paging message over a 3GPP access for a pending downlink data, wherein the pending downlink data is to be sent over a non-3GPP access; determining whether to re-establish user-plane resources over a 3GPP access using at least one protocol data unit (PDU) session of the non-3GPP access based on the paging message; and performing one of: responding to the paging message in response to determining that the user-plane resources are to be re-established using at least one PDU session of the non-3GPP access over the 3GPP access and not responding to the paging message in response to determining the user-plane resources are not to be re-establish using at least one PD U session of the non-3GPP access over the 3GPP access.

Abstract: A method for managing a Closed Access Group (CAG) feature using an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) server. The method includes receiving a registration request message from a User Equipment (UE) for registering for a CAG subscription. The method includes determining that the UE is subscribed to access the network through a CAG cell only. The method includes determining whether the registration request message includes a CAG support indicator. The method includes determining whether the UE supports the CAG feature based on the CAG support indicator. The method includes sending either a registration accept message including a CAG information list to the UE when the UE supports the CAG feature, or a registration reject message including a 5GMM cause value other than a 5GMM cause #76 to the UE when the UE does not support the CAG feature.

The method comprises: receiving, by a UE radio Capability Management Function (UCMF), a request for assigning a URC-ID corresponding to a URC information of a UE from an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) or a Mobility Management Entity (MME); determining, by the UCMF, whether the URC information is received in at least one of a first format and a second format; and performing, by the UCMF, one of: accepting the request for assigning the URC-ID in response to determining one of a) the URC information is received in both the first and the second formats, and b) the URC information is received in the first format and the URC information in the first format is available in a database associated with the UCMF, and assigning the respective URC ID to the UE, and rejecting the request for assigning the URC-ID in response to determining a) the URC information is not received in both the first format and the second format, and b) the URC information is received only in the first format and the URC information in the first format is not available in the database associated with the UCMF.
