Abstract: An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a communication module, a processor, and at least one memory, wherein the at least one memory may store instructions which instruct, when executed, the processor to, identify a plurality of external electronic devices satisfying a condition for performing a ranging operation, during a first period of time, transmit a first message, including identification information of the plurality of external electronic devices and schedule information regarding a second period of time different from the first period of time, to the plurality of external electronic devices through the communication module, based on obtaining a response corresponding to the first message from the plurality of external electronic devices, perform a ranging preparation operation with at least one external electronic device among the plurality of external electronic devices during the second period of time, and perform, based on the ranging preparation operation, a ranging operation with the at least one external electronic device. Various other embodiments are possible.
