    Abstract: The catalyst deterioration detection system 1 comprises an air-fuel ratio detection device 41 detecting an air-fuel ratio of an exhaust gas flowing out from the catalyst 20, an air-fuel ratio control part 71, and a deterioration judgment part 72. The air-fuel ratio control part is configured to perform a lean control making the air-fuel ratio of the inflowing exhaust gas leaner than a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio and a rich control making the air-fuel ratio of the inflowing exhaust gas richer than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio. The deterioration judgment part is configured to calculate an amplitude of an air-fuel ratio of an exhaust gas flowing out from the catalyst due to the lean control and the rich control based on an output of the air-fuel ratio detection device and judge that the catalyst is deteriorating if the amplitude is equal to or greater than a threshold value.

    Abstract: An exhaust purification system comprises an exhaust purification catalyst 20, an NOX sensor 46, air-fuel ratio sensor 41 downstream of the catalyst 20, and a control and diagnosis device. The device alternately sets a target air-fuel ratio to a rich air-fuel ratio and a lean air-fuel ratio and switches the target air-fuel ratio from the rich air-fuel ratio to the lean air-fuel ratio when the output air-fuel ratio of the air-fuel ratio sensor becomes a rich judged air-fuel ratio or less. The device diagnoses abnormality of the catalyst based on the output of the NOX sensor. It diagnoses abnormality of the catalyst when the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into the catalyst is a rich air-fuel ratio, but does not diagnose abnormality of the catalyst when the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into the catalyst is a lean air-fuel ratio.

    Abstract: The abnormality diagnosis system 1, 1′, 1″ of an ammonia detection device 46, 71 comprises: an air-fuel ratio detection device 41, 72 arranged in the exhaust passage 22 at the downstream side of the catalyst 20; an air-fuel ratio control part 51 configured to control an air-fuel ratio of exhaust gas; and an abnormality judgment part 52 configured to judge abnormality of the ammonia detection device. The air-fuel ratio control part performs rich control making the air-fuel ratio of the inflowing exhaust gas richer than a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio. The abnormality judgment part judges that the ammonia detection device is abnormal if, after start of the rich control, an output value of the ammonia detection device does not rise to a reference value before the air-fuel ratio detected by the air-fuel ratio detection device falls to a rich judged air-fuel ratio richer than a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio.

The heater control part is configured to rise the target temperature when the judging part judges that the water repellency of the protective layer is falling.

    Abstract: A control device of an internal combustion engine comprises a heater control part configured to set a target temperature of the electrochemical cell and control the heater so that a temperature of the electrochemical cell becomes the target temperature. The heater control part sets the target temperature to a first temperature when water injection by the water injection device is not being demanded after a predetermined time elapses from startup of the internal combustion engine, and sets the target temperature to a second temperature when an operating state of the internal combustion engine is in a water outflow state where water injected by the water injection device reaches the exhaust passage without going through combustion of air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. The second temperature is higher than the first temperature.

    Abstract: The control system of an internal combustion engine controls an internal combustion engine comprising an exhaust sensor. The control system comprises a motoring device driving rotation of a crankshaft of the internal combustion engine, a motoring control part configured to control the motoring device, a heater control part configured to control supply of electric power to the heater, and a temperature estimating part configured to estimate a temperature of the sensor element. The motoring control part is configured to drive the motoring device for a predetermined time when the temperature of the sensor element estimated by the temperature estimating part is outside a predetermined cracked element temperature region while the heater control part is supplying electric power to the heater, and stop driving the motoring device when the temperature of the sensor element is within the cracked element temperature region.

    Abstract: In a limited-current type gas sensor which detects oxygen-containing gas contained in an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, the decomposition current value of water (H2O) may be detected, and existence of an abnormality of output characteristics of the sensor may be diagnosed based on its deviation from a reference decomposition current value of water corresponding to the concentration of water contained in the exhaust gas. A NOx sensor and a SOx sensor can also diagnose remarkable and minute abnormalities of output characteristics. In addition, the reference decomposition current value of water may be acquired based on the concentration of water detected by a separate humidity sensor or the decomposition current value of oxygen detected by the limited-current type gas sensor. The reference decomposition current value of water may be corrected based on a decomposition current value of oxygen detected during a fuel cut.
