Abstract: Aspects of the present invention relate to a nacelle (14) for a wind turbine generator (10), and a method for transferring components into and out of a wind turbine generator (10). The nacelle (14) comprises a housing (26) surrounding an internal volume (24) of the nacelle (14). The housing (26) has a maintenance opening (50). The nacelle comprises a carriage (54) configured to hold a component (48), the carriage (54) being movable between a first position and a second position to transfer the component (48) through the maintenance opening (50). When the carriage (54) is in the first position, the component (48) is held within the internal volume (24). When the carriage (54) is in the second position, the component (48) is held such that at least a portion of the component (48) is outside the housing (26).

Abstract: A method of yawing a nacelle in a wind turbine having a yawing assembly comprising a drive-ring and a plurality of drives configured to exert a torque during movement along the drive-ring and thereby move the nacelle relative to the tower. The drive-ring is made of drive-ring segments joined in intersections. The method comprises defining a location for each intersection, defining a reference torque exerted by the drives when moving along the drive-ring, defining a reduced torque being lower than the reference torque, determining when a crossing drive moves across the location of an intersection, and to increase the lifetime, exerting the reduced torque by the crossing drive.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for operating a wind turbine (1). The wind turbine (1) comprises one or more wind turbine blades (5), each wind turbine blade (5) being connected to a blade carrying structure (4) mounted on a hub (3), via a hinge (6) at a hinge position of the wind turbine blade (5), each wind turbine blade (5) thereby being arranged to perform pivot movements relative to the blade carrying structure (4) between a minimum pivot angle and a maximum pivot angle. The method comprises the steps of detecting an airborne object entering a predefined zone around the wind turbine (1), comparing a current tip height (H) of the wind turbine (1) to a maximum tip height value, the maximum tip height value representing a maximum allowable tip height under currently prevailing conditions. In the case that the current tip height (H) exceeds the maximum tip height value, a pivot angle (P) of wind turbine blades (5) is adjusted in order to decrease the tip height (H) of the wind turbine (1) to a value below the maximum tip height value.

Abstract: The invention provides a wind turbine comprising a load carrying structure and an energy generating unit. The load carrying structure is connected to the energy generating unit and holds the energy generating unit above ground. The energy generating unit houses a facility which requires a particular orientation relative to gravity for being operational. Furthermore, the energy generating unit comprises an adaptation structure e.g. arranged between the load carrying structure and the facility. The adaptation structure facilitates a first configuration with a first position of the facility relative to the load carrying structure, and a second configuration with a second position of the facility relative to the load carrying structure.

Abstract: A wind turbine nacelle configured for mounting on a wind turbine tower and for supporting a rotor assembly, the nacelle comprising at least a first and a second nacelle module. The first nacelle module comprises a first frame structure and a main bearing system for a main shaft of the rotor assembly, and the second nacelle module comprises a second frame structure and a drive train system for the wind turbine. When the nacelle is mounted on the wind turbine tower, the main bearing system is supported by the wind turbine tower, and the drive train system is attached to the main bearing such that the weight of the drive train system is transferred to the main bearing system and thereby to the wind turbine tower. Further, the first frame structure is configured to support the main bearing system during transportation and prior to mounting of the nacelle, and the second frame structure is configured to support the drive train system during transportation and prior to mounting of the nacelle, and the first and second frame structures form a load carrying structure of a first and a second shipping freight container such that the first and second nacelle module can be transported as shipping freight containers. When the nacelle is mounted on the wind turbine tower, the first and second frame structures may be placed side by side in a direction along a rotational axis of the wind turbine rotor and may be oriented such as to have a length extending transversely to a rotational axis of the wind turbine rotor.
