Abstract:
A method of monitoring degradation of seals of a packing case includes receiving signals from a first temperature sensor installed in a first location in a housing of the packing case; receiving signals from a second temperature sensor installed in a second location in the housing of the packing case; computing, from the signals, a temperature differential between the first temperature sensor and the second temperature sensor at two or more times; and determining, at least in part from the temperature differential at the two or more times, a degradation indicator for at least one of the seals of the packing case.
Abstract:
A stationary arranged sensor (4) is provided in the region of one of the dead centers of the piston movement to monitor the position of the path of motion of a piston (1) relative to a cylinder (2) whereby the sensor (4) measures the lateral distance (a) to an indicator unit (6) arranged on the piston (1). The sensor (4) is arranged in a recessed position relative to the inner surface of the cylinder (2) and is sealed toward the cylinder chamber (9) by means of a cover (8), and the indicator unit (6) on the piston (1) is designed as an anomaly (10) that is non-sensitive to contaminating deposits in the area of the face (11) of the piston (1).

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for analyzing the operating condition of a machine, such as a reciprocating compressor (10), is provided. The method comprises testing for fluid flow across the closed suction and discharge valves (30-33), as well as leakage across the piston (16), when the machine is in a non-operating condition. The test apparatus may be removable attached externally to the machine by connection to the Kiene head end indicator cock (22) and the crank end indicator cock (24) or the apparatus may be built in internally of the machine.

Abstract:
A method for determining a current wear (w) of a hydrostatic pump, particularly of a radial piston pump, with a variable-speed drive, where the pump is connected to a fluid passage, in which a fluid is pumped by the pump to create a current actual volume flow in the fluid passage. A current actual volume flow (Qact) is determined, by measuring the volume flow in the fluid passage at a predetermined drive-vector, a computed volume flow (Qcomp) is determined, by a first computational method, at the predetermined drive-vector, and the current wear (w) of the pump is determined, by a second computational method, which relates the current actual volume flow (Qact) to the computed volume flow (Qcomp).
Abstract:
This invention provides a reciprocating pump system having means for determining the cylinder head pressure of at least one cylinder of each pump in the system. A control circuit continually determines the average cylinder head pressure, estimates the pump bearing life that has been consumed and the remaining pump bearing life from the pressure head information. The control circuit also controls the operation of the pumps as a function of cylinder head pressure. A temperature sensor coupled to the pump system provides temperature of the pump oil. The control circuit controls the operation of the pump as function of the pump oil temperature. The pump speed is decrease when the pump oil temperature exceeds a predetermined value. A vibration sensor coupled to the pump provides vibration level to the control circuit, which controls the pump operation in response thereto.
