    Abstract: Provided in this disclosure is a method of fabricating a backpack truck box, including a step of forming first and second patterned members from sheet material. Each of the patterned members includes multiple edges defining a first panel and a second panel each with one or more opposing tabs formed contiguously on opposing edges of each of panels. One or more bending operations are performed upon each of the opposing tabs to form first and second side portions extending at a predetermined angle from each of the panels. The side portions of the first panel are welded to respective corresponding side portions of the second panel to produce a welded backpack truck box housing.

    Abstract: A high-strength, high-toughness, and corrosion-resistant welding method for TKY nodes in a deepwater jacket includes the following steps: preheating T/K/Y nodes at a predetermined temperature according to a wall thickness of a base material; setting different welding parameters for different welding processes; and performing rooting weld on the preheated T/K/Y nodes through an electrode arc welding process, then performing filling weld through a gas metal arc welding process, and finally performing capping weld through the gas metal arc welding process. A corresponding electrode is selected for the rooting weld, a welding wire is selected for the capping weld according to low-strength matching, a welding wire is selected for the filling weld according to an equal-strength matching principle, and diffusible hydrogen contents of any electrode and any of the welding wires are all less than or equal to a predetermined diffusible hydrogen content.

The retention member (24) includes at least one leg (28) being deflectable to enable insertion into a hollow profile structural extrusions (14). At least one leg (28) tries to return to its original position exerting a force on the hollow profile structural extrusion (14) to retain the backing insert (20) in the hollow profile structural extrusion (14). The insertion member (26) projects from the body for inserting into a second hollow profile structural extrusion (14).     Abstract: The invention is an apparatus and method for Orbital welding of pipes or pipe segments together to form a pipeline, i.e., Orbital welding. A scanner welding unit, a control unit and a welding unit are combined to travel along and above a seam, which is formed between two interfacing base/cylindrical surfaces of every two pipe or pipe segments, scan the pipes/pipe segments relative positioning, alignment and levelling, and their surface geometry and topography and overlay a welding material starting from the root layer at the bottom of the seam and up to its edge and sealing it with a capping layer. The welding unit lowers a welding tip into the seam that may rotate on its axis at different angels relative to the surface during welding. The scanner unit may alert on mismatches on the relative position of the pipes/pipe segments before or after welding and in some cases enable repositioning for a more hermetically sealed weld.

    Abstract: A mobile hardbanding system that uses PTA welding to perform hardbanding on drill string sections at the well site. The inventive system allows alternate use of PTA and MIG welding. Both a PTA torch and a MIG torch are provided. Changing from one type of welding to the other is simplified by including separate electrical, gas, and cooling conduits for each torch. The torch not in use is parked in the welding compartment near the weld box. The powder hopper for the PTA welding assembly may be mounted on a swivel arm so that it can be moved out of the way when the MIG torch is in use.

    Abstract: A method of forming a fused rail assembly in which one or more heating elements are positioned in a gap between first and second end faces of aligned first and second rails. The end faces are covered by a non-oxidizing atmosphere, and the heating elements are energized, to heat portions of the first and second rails to a predetermined hot working temperature. While one or more of the first end faces is moving transversely relative to center lines of the rails, and while the heated portions are at the predetermined hot working temperature, the first and second end faces are engaged with each other, to fuse together, forming the fused rail assembly. The transverse motion of the first end face or the second end face or both may commence before or after the first and second end faces are engaged.
