摘要: The present invention is directed to new and improved solutions for packaging contact lenses and to methods for treating contact lenses with such solutions to improve the comfort of the lenses during wear. In particular, the present invention is directed to packing solutions comprising certain non-ionic surfactants containing a poly(oxyalkylene) copolymer and having a molecular weight of 4000 to 30,000. Such surfactants are retained on the surface of an unused lens for extended periods of time, resulting in surface modification that persists in the eye, thereby providing significant improvement in the wetting properties of fresh contact lenses used for the first time and, moreover, even several hours after lens insertion, preventing dryness and improving lubricity.

摘要: Disclosed are pumpable surfactant compositions of alkanolamine salts of alkyl phosphate esters. The compositions have a solids content of about 60% by weight or more. Alkanolamines useful in preparation of the alkyl phosphate ester salts of the compositions of the present invention have the following formula III: 1 wherein R4 to R6 are, individually, hydrogen or C1-8, linear or branched alkyl, alkenyl, alkaryl or aralkyl hydrocarbon moieties, which optionally may contain carbocyclic rings. At least one of the amine substituents is different from the other two. For at least one of the three substituents on the amine nitrogen, the sum of s and t (snullt) or v and w (vnullw) or x and y (xnully) is equal to or greater than 1 and the corresponding R (R4, R5 or R6) is hydrogen. The subscripts p and q, individually, may be the same or different and are integers from 2 to 4. The subscripts s, t, v, w, x, and y, individually, may be the same or different and are integers of from 0 to 10, with the proviso that the sum of all six of the subscripts is less than or equal to 12.

摘要: An effervescent tablet composition for use in sanitizing garbage disposals. The tablet composition includes a hypochlorite generator and an effervescent system. Further, the effervescent tablet may include surfactant, binder, fiber carrier, lubricant, and fragrance. A method for cleaning garbage disposals is also presented, including the steps of: mixing the starting materials in order to form an effervescent tablet; packaging the tablet in a moisture resistant pouch; placing the tablet in a garbage disposal unit; running warm water into the garbage disposal unit and turning on the garbage disposal for about 20 seconds; turning off the water and the garbage disposal, permitting the foam generated to maintain contact with all surfaces for about five minutes; and followed by rinsing away any left-over residue with generous amounts of water.

摘要: A detergent composition containing an inexpensive detergent builder in the form of a selected crystalline calcium carbonate is provided. Specifically, the crystalline calcium carbonate has a substantially rhombohedral crystal structure with null1,0,-1,1null crystallographic indices. The crystalline calcium carbonate can be calcite that has been specially modified to a rhombohedral crystal structure with null1,0,-1,1null indices. The crystalline calcium carbonate of the present invention is extremely inexpensive because it can be readily formed from inexpensive naturally occurring calcite, and it performs well even when used at large median particle sizes.

摘要: A solid cleaning composition comprises a source of active oxygen agent within a binder complex. The solid is formed by a binding agent that forms the ingredients into a solid. The binding agent is a composition formed by the solidification of a mixture of an organic sequestrant, including phosphonate or aminocarboxylic acid or mixtures thereof, an active oxygen compound, and water. The solid composition can be dissolved in an aqueous solution creating an aqueous concentrate of the active oxygen at a useful concentration. The binding agent can also be used to bind additional functional materials and form a solid cleaning composition comprising the source of stabilized active oxygen as well as the additional functional material.
