Abstract:
Deflecting ribs are provided within a coolant jacket formed in a cylinder head in such a manner as to protrude upwardly from bottom walls for directing the flow of coolant toward exhaust-valve-port side port wall portions The deflecting ribs for deflecting part of the flow of coolant toward the exhaust-valve-port side port wall portions are formed in such a manner as to extend from the intake-valve-port side port wall portions, and gaps are left between the exhaust-valve-port side port wall portions and the deflecting ribs for allowing the coolant to flow along the wall surfaces of the exhaust-valve-port side port wall portions, whereby there is generated no stagnation of the coolant on the wall surfaces of the exhaust-valve-port side port wall portions at the portions where the gaps are formed.
Abstract:
For the purpose of achieving a simple casting design that exhibits high rigidity and specific coolant guide, it is proposed for a liquid cooled cross flow cylinder head, which is intended for internal combustion engines with cylinders arranged in series and comprises a coolant chamber, which is closed against an integrated control housing by means of a cover wall, that the cover wall exhibit a cavity between diametrical screw pipes and shaft tubes, which adjoin at right angles, for spark plugs or injection nozzles. Said cavity is connected to the cylinder head bottom by a cross wall between the diametrical screw pipes. The cavity's wall segments that ascend from the cross wall in the direction of the cover wall serve as the flow guide surfaces.
Abstract:
A cylinder head includes a cam holder mating surface and a cylinder mating surface. The cam holder mating surface is non-parallel with respect to the cylinder mating surface. Ignition plug holes are formed in the cylinder head and a cam holder. The plug holes are aligned and have a common extension axis which is perpendicular to the cylinder mating surface and non-perpendicular to the cam holder mating surface. A bolt attaches the cam holder to the cylinder head and extends in a direction which parallels the extension axis of the plug holes, is perpendicular to the cylinder mating surface, and non-perpendicular to the cam holder mating surface.
