Abstract: A time-to-digital converter includes N stages of converting circuits, where N2, and N is an integer. Each stage of the converting circuit includes a first delayer and an arbiter; an output end of the first delayer in each stage of the converting circuit outputs a delayed signal of the stage of the converting circuit; and the arbiter in each stage of the converting circuit receives a sampling clock and the delayed signal of the stage of the converting circuit, and compares the sampling clock with the delayed signal to obtain an output signal of the stage of the converting circuit. The first delayer in each stage of the converting circuit includes at least one first delay cell circuit with a first time unit. The first delayer in any stage of the converting circuit includes a less number of first delay cell circuits than the first delayer in a next stage of the converting circuit.

Abstract: A manual tooth brush having a timer function. The tooth brush has a body that defines a cavity therein and in which a timer is located. The brush uses an inversion switch instead of an accelerometer to activate the timer. The inversion switch, or tilt switch, may be a mercury type tilt switch or a ball type tilt switch. When the tooth brush is tilted such that the head is below the brush body, the tilt switch is activated and the switch in turn activates the microprocessor. Activating the tilt switch also starts the timer that is linked to the microprocessor. Because the microprocessor is only activated when the tooth brush is tilted, the battery life of the tooth brush is extended. The brush timer is programed to run for about 2 minutes. The tooth brush vibrates or makes a sound every 30 seconds. The timer deactivates after 2.5 minutes.

Abstract: A shot activated timer system comprises a wearable housing in which control and processing components are in electrical communication with a display, input devices, a power source, a stopwatch, a motion sensor, activation signal components, optional wireless communication components, and optional audio sensors. The motion sensor detects the vibration patterns when a firearm is discharged, and pattern recognition software installed on the control and processor components identifies valid firearm shots. The system communicates with a base unit using a short-range communication protocol. The time it takes for a shooter to discharge his firearm is measured by recording the elapsed time from an activation signal until a shot is fired. When the firearm discharges, the vibration of the shot is sensed by the motion sensor and optionally additionally with the audio sensor. One or more sequential shots can be recorded, and the results can be delivered to the display.

Abstract: Improved systems and methods for timing athletic events. A radio-based starter unit and a radio based timer unit communicate wirelessly via radio. Push buttons/switches and lights and a speaker in the units provide an intuitive, easy to use interface. Handshaking occurs between the starter unit and the timer unit, and lights indicate that the event is ready to start. Real time clocks in the units are synchronized. Upon detection of race or other event start, such as from a starter's pistol, information indicative of the race start time is transmitted from the start unit to the timer unit. A camera in communication with the timer unit provides video frames, and the timer unit encodes and inserts elapsed time information in the video frames, which are then output from the timer unit for review and analysis on a computer.
