摘要： The invention is directed to a process for the continuous acetylation of wood elements. The process particularly combines a batchwise impregnation step, with a continuous reaction step. In order to realize this, a collection step is built-in, so as to allow batches of impregnated wood elements to be fed into a reactor in a continuous manner. Very high acetylation contents can be obtained, at a level that had not been achievable before in a continuous and non-catalyzed acetylation process.

摘要： A wood treatment device may include a container and a closure assembly. The container may include an elongate body with an open end and having an internal expanse for holding a wood-treatment agent in fluid communication with the open end. The closure assembly may be configured, when positioned at the container open end, to close at least partially the open end. The closure assembly may include a release unit having an inner face exposed to the internal expanse and an outer face facing away from the internal expanse. The release unit may be configured to impede passage of the wood-treatment agent through the release unit. In some examples, an adapter may extending distally of the container and have an exposed surface facing the container and defining an opening configured to allow a foot of a manipulation tool to be moved through the opening and pivoted laterally to engage the adapter.

摘要： Disclosed is a method for the continuous impregnation of wood elements, such as wood chips. The method comprises the subsequent steps of subjecting the wood elements to vacuum, to contact with acetylation fluid, and to impregnation pressure. Preferably, the process is conducted in a plant having conveyors, such as transportation screws, in suitable positions between the zones in which the subsequent process steps are conducted. The impregnation method is used in connection with the acetylation of the wood elements, and preferably is followed by a continuous acetylation process conducted in an acetylation reaction zone downstream of the zone where the impregnation is conducted.

摘要： A device for pressure treatment of wood elements comprises a pressure chamber for accommodating the wood elements which are to be treated. The pressure chamber also accommodates a pressure medium which surrounds the wood elements on more than one side and, at least before the pressurization, a secondary medium in the form of a fluid. When the pressure medium is pressurized, the wood elements are subjected to a multilateral pressure, whereby they are permanently compressed. Furthermore, the pressure chamber is provided with elements for controlling the quantity of secondary medium which penetrates into the wood during the treatment. These elements may include evacuating valves or casings which surround the wood elements and which are impenetrable to the secondary medium.

摘要： Apparatus for impregnating wood veneer with a liquid impregnant comprises a container having an upper chamber communicated to a lower impregnation chamber. A clamping mechanism is releasably engageable to a peripheral region of the wood veneer and is cooperably received in the upper chamber in a manner to suspend the wood veneer in the impregnation chamber. An elevator overlies the container and is releasably connectable to the clamping mechanism for lowering the clamping mechanism into the upper chamber to suspend the wood veneer in the impregnation chamber therebelow. The clamping mechanism is disconnected from the elevator such that the clamping mechanism remains in the upper chamber during impregnation of the wood veneer with liquid impregnant. The impregnation chamber is evacuated by a vacuum pump after the wood veneer is suspended therein, and liquid impregnant is introduced from a storage tank to the impregnation chamber about the wood veneer. A venting valve is openable to establish ambient pressure in the impregnation chamber to impregnate the wood veneer with the liquid impregnant therein. Following impregnation, the clamping mechanism is reconnected to the elevator to enable removal of the impregnated wood veneer from the container.

摘要： An injection device is disclosed for the treatment of wood without the necessity of a rivet-set. The injection device has a deformable elastic body having an internal cavity intended to receive a conical injection head and including an anti-return valve system therein. The upper part of the body has a double wall which consists of an external wall and an internal wall. The external wall absorbs deformations due to the driving-in phase of the injection device. The internal wall insures the nondeformation of the circular ridge of the cavity to guarantee the seal between the conical injection head and the injection device during the injection phase of the treatment product.

摘要： Injection heads for a railroad tie treating apparatus by which a flowable treating material can be injected through unused or unoccupied spike holes in railroad rail tie plates which anchor the bottom flange of a railroad rail to the wooden ties. Each of the injection heads include a structure enabling the injection head to be sealingly engaged with tie plate in order to prevent leakage of the treating material between the injection head and tie plate with several embodiments of the invention being disclosed to assure efficient discharge of the flowable treating material between the bottom surface of the tie plates and the adjacent surface areas of the wooden ties.

摘要： An inexpensive, readily handled receptacle for use in the bulk impregnation of timber by vacuum impregnation is made of flexible fluid-impermeable material and, over parts of its walls, is of double thickness to form closed pockets that can be inflated to form a container of rectangular shape hinged along one of its side faces to provide a sealable opening for loading and unloading. The pockets have a valve for inflating them with air; the receptacle has inlet and outlet ports for evacuating the receptacle and introducing impregnant. Preferably, the receptacle is supported in a two-part rectangular frame hinged along one side face.

摘要： A long life railroad track and tie arrangement and method of making same. A wooden railroad tie is impregnated and covered with a thin layer of polypropylene which serves to protect the tie both from the weather and from mechanical abuse. The tie is apertured to receive rail mounting hardware. A bottom plate is secured to the underside of the tie and carries threaded fastening means mating the tie apertures. A top plate overlies the tie, carries a channel for receiving the rail, and is apertured to mate the tie apertures. A pair of apertured clips have extended arms overlying the prepositioned rail. Bolts are passed through the clips, the top plate, the tie and into the fasteners in the bottom plate to reliably secure the rail to the tie. In addition to its application in conventional track laying or track repairing situations, the invention allows manufacture of track in transportable prefabricated track and tie sections, which may be positioned and joined on site by simply welding adjacent rails.
