    摘要: A print head for additive manufacturing with a material includes an accumulator comprising an elongated body with an open interior and an inside diameter. A slide tube is slidably mounted within the open interior of the elongated body. The slide tube has a sealing piston head hermetically sealing the open end within the elongated body to define a variable gas containment space. A pressurized gas is supplied to the gas containment space. A rotatable shaping nozzle with an opening for discharging material is provided. A positive displacement extruder delivers material from the accumulator to the nozzle assembly. The nozzle assembly can include a nozzle rotation drive for rotating the shaping nozzle about an axis of rotation. The nozzle opening can be aligned with the axis of rotation, and defines a discharge axis that can be perpendicular to the axis of rotation. A method of additive manufacturing is also disclosed.

    摘要: A chlorophyll fluorescence measuring system having at least one spectrometer coupled to a data logger. The data logger provides direct control of the spectrometer and includes on-board memory for storage of target and reference spectrum data obtained by the spectrometer. The data logger may be coupled to an external computer that receives and analyzes target and reference spectrum data to determine SIF using a spectral fitting algorithm. The system may include a spectrometer aiming system coupled to and controlled by the data logger. The system may also include one or more environmental sensors configured to measure environment variables. The environmental sensors may be coupled to the data logger for control and data storage. The environmental data may be communicated to the external computer for use in the spectral fitting algorithm. The data logger may be connected to a network for remote monitoring and control.

    Additive manufacturing of complex objects using refractory matrix materials

    摘要: A method for the manufacture of a three-dimensional object using a refractory matrix material is provided. The method includes the additive manufacture of a green body from a powder-based refractory matrix material followed by densification via chemical vapor infiltration (CVI). The refractory matrix material can be a refractory ceramic (e.g., silicon carbide, zirconium carbide, or graphite) or a refractory metal (e.g., molybdenum or tungsten). In one embodiment, the matrix material is deposited according to a binder-jet printing process to produce a green body having a complex geometry. The CVI process increases its density, provides a hermetic seal, and yields an object with mechanical integrity. The residual binder content dissociates and is removed from the green body prior to the start of the CVI process as temperatures increase in the CVI reactor. The CVI process selective deposits a fully dense coating on all internal and external surfaces of the finished object.

The housing has at least one open end. A cap is configured to be assembled coaxially to the housing. The cap includes a top and a plug configured to be inside the housing when the cap is assembled to the housing through the open end. An outer surface of the plug is dimensioned to engage an adjacent inside surface of the housing in an interference fit of the cap with the housing. A method for sealing a capsule is also disclosed.

    摘要: A solid polymer blend material comprising: (i) lignin; and (ii) a polyamide having a melting point of no more than 240° C. and which is below the decomposition temperature of the lignin; wherein said lignin is homogeneously dispersed in said polyamide. Methods for producing the blend material are also described. Methods for producing objects made of the blend material by melt extrusion are also described, comprising: (a) melt blending components (i) and (ii) to form a polymer blend in which components (i) and (ii) are homogeneously blended, wherein the polymer blend exhibits a melt viscosity of no more than 2000 Pa·s at a shear rate of 100-1000 s−1 and when heated to a temperature of no more than 240° C.; and; (b) forming an object made of said polymer blend material.
