Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with conductive structures such as conductive housing structures. A visible-light-reflecting coating may be formed on the conductive structures. The coating may have adhesion and transition layers, an opaque coloring layer on the adhesion and transition layers, and a two-layer thin-film interference filter on the opaque coloring layer. The two-layer thin-film interference filter may an uppermost diamond-like carbon (DLC) or CrSiCN layer and a lowermost SiCrCN layer. The coating may exhibit a dark blue or black color that has a relatively uniform visual response even when the underlying conductive structures have a three-dimensional shape.

Abstract: In some implementations, the techniques may include at a first time: performing, using a first sensor, a first ranging measurement with a second device to obtain a first distance; and performing, using a second sensor, a first altitude measurement to obtain a first altitude. In addition, the techniques may include at a second time: performing, using the first sensor, a second ranging measurement with the second device to obtain a second distance; and performing, using the second sensor, a second altitude measurement to obtain a second altitude. The techniques may include determining a ranging difference between the first distance and the second distance. Moreover, the techniques may include determining an altitude difference between the first altitude and the second altitude. Also, the techniques may include determining whether the second device is on a different floor of a building than the first device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for coordinating data sampling among devices include a set of electronic devices that may periodically sample energy data from a smart meter according to sample timing information. The sample timing information may specify a set of times to sample energy data for each electronic device. The set of electronic devices may take turns in sampling energy data from the smart meter so that individual electronic devices may reduce power consumption by sampling less frequently. A server may determine the sample times for the electronic devices and may instruct the electronic devices to sample energy data. Additionally, each individual electronic device may leave and/or join wireless communication networks less frequently than if each individual electronic device performed every sample. Accordingly, the coordinated sampling may decrease the radio resource usage and/or bandwidth usage of any individual electronic device.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject technology relate to electronic devices with pressure sensors. Pressure sensor occlusion may be mitigated by ejecting occluding liquid with pulsed liquid heating. Processing circuit of the electronic device can obtain pressure sensor data from the pressure sensor and determine that the opening is occluded based at least in part on a change in pressure within a cavity adjacent the opening. The processing circuitry applies a first power pulse to a heating element during a first phase to cause the heating element to form a gas pocket around the heating element by heating at least a portion of a water volume inside the cavity and applies a second power pulse to the heating element during a second phase following the first phase to cause the heating element to expand the gas pocket around the heating element by further heating the water volume inside the cavity.

Abstract: Electrodes that can be used to determine a first type of physiological signal and a second type of physiological signal are disclosed. The first type of physiological signal can be electromyography (EMG) signals produced by activity of muscles and tendons. Identification of hand movements can be supplemented with pose detection circuitry such as inertial measurement units (IMUs). These EMG signals can be processed to identify hand movements and recognize gestures associated with those hand movements. The second type of physiological signal can be electromyography (ECG) signals produced by the heart. The electrodes can be used to detect EMG and ECG signals dependent upon a current configuration of sensing circuitry. The electrodes can be used to determine a measurement quality associated with the EMG signals.
