Abstract: The present disclosure describes a method for occupancy class prediction, such as for occupancy class detection in a vehicle. In aspects, the method includes determining, for a plurality of points of time, measurement data related to an area and determining, for a plurality of points of time, occlusion values based on the measurement data. The method further includes selecting, for a present point of time, one of a plurality of modes for occupancy class prediction based on the occlusion values for at least one of the present point of time and a previous point of time and/or based on one of the plurality of modes for occupancy class prediction selected for the previous point of time. The method additionally includes determining, for the present point of time, one of a plurality of predetermined occupancy classes of the area based on the selected mode for the present point of time.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for transmitting data through a switch-based network in an in-vehicle communications network system. In an example transmission-based method, the method includes for a transmitter device generating, by a generator, a reservoir data stream (RSSj). The method also includes transmitting the reservoir data stream (RSSj) through the switch-based network. The method further includes, when a new data stream from the transmitter device to a receiver device is needed, replacing, by an injector, at least part of the reservoir data stream (RSSj) by a new data stream.

Abstract: The techniques of this disclosure relate to a vehicle occupancy-monitoring system. The system includes a controller circuit that receives occupant data from an occupancy-monitoring sensor of a vehicle. The controller circuit determines an occupancy status of respective seats in a cabin of the vehicle based on the occupancy-monitoring sensor. The controller circuit indicates the occupancy status of the respective seats on a display located in a field of view of occupants of the vehicle. The display is integral to one of a roof light module, a door panel, or a headliner of the cabin. The system can improve passenger safety by alerting the operator and other occupants about the occupancy status of the passengers.

Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to dataflow applications. In aspects, a system is disclosed for scheduling execution of feature services within a distributed data flow service (DDFS) framework. Further, the DDFS framework includes a main system-on-chip (SoC), at least one sensing service, and a plurality of feature services. Each of the plurality of feature services include a common pattern with an algorithm for processing the input data, a feature for encapsulating the algorithm into a generic wrapper rendering the algorithm compatible with other algorithms, a feature interface for encapsulating a feature output into a generic interface allowing generic communication with other feature services, and a configuration file including a scheduling policy to execute the feature services. For each of the plurality of feature services, processor(s) schedule the execution of a given feature service using the scheduling policy and execute a given feature service on the standard and/or accelerator cores.

De-Aliased Imaging for a Synthetic Aperture Radar

Abstract: This document describes techniques for enabling de-aliased imaging for a synthetic aperture radar. Radar signals processed by a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system may include false detections in the form of aliasing induced by grating lobes. The techniques described herein can reduce the adverse effects of grating lobes by obtaining an initial SAR image using a back-projection algorithm. Aliasing effects (e.g., false detections) in this initial image may be common due to the limitations of an SAR system moving at non-uniform speeds. A refined image is produced from the initial image by applying a de-aliasing filter to the initial image. The refined image may have reduced or eliminated false detections that attribute to aliasing effects, resulting in a better representation of the environment of the vehicle.

Abstract: A lane centering system for a vehicle includes a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) system configured to (i) emit light pulses towards raised pavement markers on a road along which the vehicle is traveling and (ii) receive light pulses reflected by the raised pavement markers that collectively form LIDAR point cloud data, and a controller configured to detect a set of lane lines defining one or more lanes on the road based on the LIDAR point cloud data, based on at least the detected set of lane lines; generate a polynomial curve corresponding to a center of a lane in which the vehicle is traveling, and control steering of the vehicle based on the polynomial curve to keep the vehicle centered within the lane.
