摘要: Compositions and methods that utilize a combination of essential oils or other plant-derived extracts or compounds and an emulsifier as an antimicrobial are provided. In some embodiments the compositions further include ozone. In some embodiments, the composition includes one or more plant essential oils, plant extracts, or plant-derived compounds, or combinations thereof, and an emulsifier (such as a saponin). The antimicrobial composition may also include water, peracetic acid, acetic acid, lactic acid, citric acid, and/or hydrogen peroxide. Methods of killing a microorganism, including contacting the microorganism with the disclosed antimicrobial compositions are also provided. The microorganism may be present on a food item or a food contact of non-food contact surface and may be in the form of a biofilm. In some examples, the antimicrobial composition is used one or more times (such as 1 to 5 times).

摘要: Methods, devices and systems are described that use a combination multiple light sources having different coherence lengths to measure surface characteristics of an object. One example system includes a two laser sources configured to operate at a first and a second center wavelength, a broadband source configured to operate at a range of wavelengths outside of the operating range of the at least two lasers, a phase mask array and a color filter arranged, respectively, to impart different phase delays and provide spectral filtering corresponding to the emitted radiation from the sources. A pixelated sensor device is positioned to simultaneously measure intensity values associated with a plurality of interferograms formed due to interference of light from the light sources after propagation through the phase mask array and the color filter. The measured intensity values enable the determination of surface characteristics of the object.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method of using family and/or regulatory members of the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway as predictive markers for risk of skin cancer development and as targets for therapeutic prevention of pre-malignant (or pre-cancerous) skin lesions and non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC). This invention will allow for quantitative measurements of UV-induced expression of PD-1/PD-Li signaling pathway family members (e.g., PD-1, PD-L1, PD-L2) and/or PD-1/PD-L1 regulatory factors including AP-1 and NFκB family members in skin tissue of individuals to determine an individual's 1) risk for skin cancer development and 2) appropriate prophylactic treatment strategy to prevent skin cancer development. This information will facilitate identification of those patients at risk for pre-malignant (or pre-cancerous) skin lesions or subsequent NMSC lesions who would benefit from a PD-1/PD-L1 pathway suppressing therapy to prevent skin cancer development.

摘要: A method for determining a perturbation energy of a quantum state of a many-body system includes constructing a wave function that approximates the quantum state by adjusting parameters of the wave function to minimize an expectation value of a zeroth-order Hamiltonian. The zeroth-order Hamiltonian explicitly depends on a finite mass of each of a plurality of interacting quantum particles that form the many-body system, the quantum state has a non-zero total angular momentum, the wave function is a linear combination of explicitly correlated Gaussian basis functions, and each of the explicitly correlated Gaussian basis functions includes a preexponential angular factor. The perturbation energy is calculated from the wave function and a perturbation Hamiltonian that explicitly depends on the finite mass of each of the plurality of interacting quantum particles. The perturbation energy may be added to the minimized expectation value to obtain a total energy of the quantum state.
