Abstract:
A honeycomb core is created from a stack of metal sheets that are welded together using a serpentine weld path. Each sheet in the stack is welded to the sheet underneath. All the odd-numbered sheets, excluding the bottom sheet, are welded using a first serpentine welding pattern that includes a plurality of long welds and a plurality of short welds. All the even-numbered sheets are welded using a second serpentine welding pattern that includes a plurality of long welds and a plurality of short welds, such that the long welds of the second serpentine welding pattern are shifted from the long welds of the first serpentine welding pattern. When a sufficient number of sheets have been welded, the stack is trimmed to remove the short welds. The stack is expanded by pulling the sheets one from another to form the honeycomb core.
Abstract:
A control system comprising a timer based controller and a valve wherein the timer-based controller has a fixed period and the timer based controller regularly cycles the valve between a first condition and a second condition with the first portion of the cycle directing a first flow of water through a dispensable material and the remaining portion of the cycle directing a lesser flow of water through the dispensable material.
Abstract:
A laser welding pressure unit comprises a housing, a rotating element, and a foot. The housing may attach to a laser head. The rotating element may include an outer ring rotatably coupled to an inner ring, wherein the outer ring is coupled to the housing. The foot may couple to the inner ring such that the foot rotates with respect to the housing. The foot may also be configured to contact an upper surface of a metal sheet and may be oriented such that while the metal sheet is being welded, the foot rotates about a central vertical axis and the laser welding pressure unit is able to move in any direction without the foot breaking contact with the surface.
Abstract:
Compounds, compositions, and methods relating to 5-ethyl-2-{4-[4-(4-tetrazol-1-yl-phenoxymethyl)-thiazol-2-yl]-piperidin-1-yl}-pyrimidine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are provided for the treatment of Type II diabetes and other diseases associated with poor glycemic control.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for controlling a water characteristic of a body of water by controlling the cyclic release of a water characteristic material into the body of water with or without the system being responsive to a level of the water characteristic in the body of water with the system capable of being controlled from a display or from a wireless control module or both.
Abstract:
The optimization of product prices using business segmentation is provided. The business is segmented into a plurality of selected segments, each including a subset of products. Segmenting utilizes fixed dimensions and variable dimensions. Pricing power and pricing risk is computed for each segment. Pricing power is an ability to alter pricing of the products within the segment. Pricing risk is a risk factor associated with an alteration to pricing of the products within the segment. Pricing objectives are generated for each segment by comparing the pricing power to the pricing risk of the segment. Prices are optimized using the pricing objectives. Prices are set based on optimized prices. Price lists and policies may be managed, including negotiating of prices based on optimized prices. Additionally, the entire system may be linked to an enterprise resource system.
Abstract:
The invention provides apoptosis signaling kinase related kinase (ASKRK) nucleic acid and polypeptide sequences and methods of using such sequences to identify modulators of ASKRK. Such modulators can be used for the treatment of diabetes or for delaying the onset of diabetes. The invention also provides methods of diagnosing diabetes or pre-diabetes and methods of making a prognosis based on the detection of ASKRK nucleic acids and proteins.

Abstract:
The present invention is a method for performing a joining operation to couple a first component to a second component. One embodiment of the present method includes the steps of aligning the first component and the second component so that a first portion of the first component is aligned with a first portion of the second component, heating the first component so that a melt is formed at the first portion of the first component, and forcing the first portion of the second component into the melt so that when the melt solidifies, the first component and the second component are bonded.
Abstract:
The present invention is an apparatus for performing a joining operation to couple a first component to a second component. One embodiment of the present apparatus includes means for aligning the first component and the second component so that a first portion of the first component is aligned with a first portion of the second component, means for heating the first component so that a melt is formed at the first portion of the first component, and means for forcing the first portion of the second component into the melt so that when the melt solidifies, the first component and the second component are bonded. In the exemplification embodiment, the heating means is an Nd:YAG laser source which emits at least a first laser beam which impinges upon one of the components.
