Abstract:
An electronic device includes a radio frequency identification (RFID) reader and a controller coupled to the RFID reader. The RFID reader is used for detecting an RFID tag when a distance between the RFID tag and the RFID reader is within a predetermined range. The controller is used for enabling the electronic device to operate at an emergency mode when the distance between the RFID tag and the RFID reader is beyond the predetermined range. In the emergency mode, the electronic device is locked.
Abstract:
The present invention provides methods and systems for building object hierarchy. The method includes: obtaining a set of web pages from a website; conducting an inter-page analysis on the obtained web pages to extract a hierarchy of the web pages; conducting an intra-page analysis on each of the obtained web pages to identify the semantic blocks within the web page and extract a hierarchy of the semantic blocks for all the web pages; and fusing the hierarchy of the semantic blocks with the hierarchy of the web pages to generate a coordinated hierarchy. In one embodiment, the nodes on the generated coordinated hierarchy are then mapped into corresponding objects to generate the coordinated object hierarchy. Compared with the prior arts, the object hierarchy building systems and methods according to the present invention can build the object hierarchy in a more accurate and efficient way by fusing the inter-page analysis result and the intra-page analysis result.
Abstract:
A process for the production and maintenance of pluripotent and/or totipotent progenitor cereal cells from undifferentiated callus cells is described. Production of the progenitor cells takes place via direct organogenesis on a medium containing at least one auxin and at least one cytokinin. For example, the auxin may be 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, indole-3-acetic acid, picloran, naphthelenacetic acid, indole-3-propionic acid, indole-3-butyric acid, phenyl acetic acid, benzofuran-3-acetic acid or phenyl butyric acid, and the cytokinin may be benzyl amino purine, benzyladenine, thidiazuron, zeatin, isopentyladenine, trans-zeatin or dimethylallyladenine. Processes for transformation of the undifferentiated callus cells and/or the progenitor cereal cells are also described. Typical cereal cells are sorghum, maize, wheat, barley, millet, rye, canola, alfalfa, triticale and rice.

The core includes an amount of carbon nanotubes having at least one conductive coating disposed about the carbon nanotubes. The carbon nanotubes are orderly arranged. The insulating layer is about the core. The shielding layer is about the insulating layer. The sheathing layer is about the shielding layer.
Abstract:
Method and system to utilize the set of navigation paths of web pages as the contextual information for subject relevant web page filtering with high accuracy are provided. The method comprises the steps of: obtaining all web pages in one or more web pages collections; collecting information of the links among the obtained web pages; extracting, based on the collected links, a set of navigation paths of each of the obtained web pages; and filtering the obtained web pages based on the extracted set of navigation paths to obtain desired web pages. In some embodiments, the extraction of the navigation paths is preferably performed on the navigation links of the web pages. Therefore, the method also comprises the process for deleting non-navigation links from all the links of the web pages. Compared with the prior art, the present invention can utilize the contextual information of the web pages for web page filtering in a more sufficient way, thereby improving the accuracy and objectivity of the web page filtering.
Abstract:
A fiber gas sensor includes a fiber core with first and second refractive index periodic modulated grating structures having different amplitude modulation profiles positioned about the fiber core. A fiber cladding is positioned about the first and second refractive index periodic modulated grating structures. A sensing layer is positioned about the fiber cladding of one of the refractive index periodic modulated grating structures. The sensing layer includes a sensing material made of a Pd-based alloy, such as nano-PdOx, nano-Pd(x)Au(y)Ni(1-x-y) or nano-Pd/Au/WOx. The fiber gas sensor provides a measurement of localized, temperature-corrected gas concentration and composition from a combustion environment. A reflection-based or a transmission-based sensing system with an array of one or more fiber gas sensors is also described.

Methods for producing a maize plant that comprise crossing double haploid maize line PHWWD with another maize plant. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into PHWWD through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. Hybrid maize seed, plant or plant part produced by crossing the double haploid line PHWWD or a trait conversion of PHWWD with another maize line. Inbred maize lines derived from double haploid maize line PHWWD, methods for producing other inbred maize lines derived from double haploid maize line PHWWD and the inbred maize lines and their parts derived by the use of those methods.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods for improving the transformation frequency of Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of maize embryos. A preferred method for transforming maize using Agrobacterium comprises the steps of: contacting at least one immature embryo from a maize plant with Agrobacterium capable of transferring at least one gene to said embryo; co-cultivating the embryos with Agrobacterium; culturing the embryos in medium comprising N6 salts, an antibiotic capable of inhibiting the growth of Agrobacterium, and a selective agent to select for embryos expressing the gene; and regenerating plants expressing the gene.
Abstract:
A method of decoding a plurality of diverse signals for low-density parity-check (LDPC) decoders that takes advantage of signal diversity. The method allows for the combining of soft-decision LDPC encoded non-coherently modulated signals, which is in contrast to existing approaches where hard decision combining is used for non-coherently modulated signals. The method includes the steps of inputting each diversity signal into a unique demodulator, and calculating the LLR of each demodulated signal. When the diverse demodulated signals are combined into a single combined signal, each bit of the combined signal is selected according to the value of either the highest LLR value of each bit across the demodulated signals or according to the sum of the LLR of each bit across the demodulated signals.
