Abstract: According to one implementation, a communication system includes a computing platform having one or more hardware processor(s) and a system memory storing a software code, as well as an image capture device, a transceiver, and a display including one or more display screen(s) controlled by the hardware processor(s). The communication system also includes a base including a motor coupled to a rotor for rotating the display. The hardware processor(s) is/are configured to execute the software code to receive audio-visual data including image data corresponding to a remote venue and render the image data on the display screen(s) while spinning the display to generate a floating image of the remote venue. The hardware processor(s) is/are further configured to execute the software code to, concurrently with spinning the display, obtain local image data of a local venue and transmit local audio-visual data including the local image data to the remote venue.

Abstract: To provide masks for augmented reality (AR) effects in real-time, the embodiments described herein capture a plurality of images of an environment that includes one or more real-world objects after initiating an AR session with an AR device located in the environment. Upon detecting a trigger to generate an AR effect targeting a first real-world object of the one or more real-world objects, a first virtual representation of the first real-world object is generated, based on the plurality of images of the environment, and a second virtual representation of a second real-world object of the one or more real-world objects is generated based on the plurality of images of the environment, wherein the second real-world object is at least partially occluded by the first real-world object.

Abstract: Systems and methods to facilitate game profile development based on virtual and real activities of users are described herein. A user may perform virtual and/or real activities in order to develop a game profile so that the user can play one or more games where the game profile may be implemented. Users may be motivated to perform the virtual and/or real activities to develop the game profiles and show off and/or test their developed game profiles. The one or more games where the game profile may be implemented may be specific to one or more geo-graphic locations.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to systems and methods for using a vehicle as a motion base for a simulated experience. To use a vehicle as a motion base for a simulation experience, simulation information for the simulation experience may be obtained. Simulation information may include simulation stimuli that correspond to simulation events. Ride information may be obtained to identify occurrences of simulation events. Simulation stimuli corresponding to the identified simulation events occurrences may be generated. Simulation experience may be provided by operating one or more of a light source inside the vehicle, a speaker, a display, an air conditioner, a heater, a temperature controller of the vehicle, and/or other components.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention disclosed herein provide techniques for implementing augmented reality (AR) gameplay across multiple AR gaming environments. A synchronized AR gaming application executing on an AR gaming console detects that a first gaming console that is executing an AR gaming application has exited a first AR gaming environment and entered a second AR gaming environment. The synchronized AR gaming application connects to a communications network associated with the second AR gaming environment. The synchronized AR gaming application detects, via the communications network, a sensor associated with the second AR gaming environment. The synchronized AR gaming application alters execution of the AR gaming application based at least in part on sensor data received via the sensor to enable the AR gaming application to continue executing as the first gaming console exits the first AR gaming environment and enters the second AR gaming environment.

Abstract: The systems described herein facilitate providing a virtual content with an intended appearance. The virtual content can be an interactive space. The interactive space may be presented on a display of a presentation device. The display can be a transparent display. The interactive space can be superimposed over a perspective of a physical real-world environment of a user. Environmental characteristics of the physical real-world environment can alter the intended appearance of the interactive space superimposed over a perspective of a physical real-world environment. The environmental characteristics include one or more of a light intensity, color, and/or other visual features of the physical real-world environment. The appearance of the interactive space can be altered to compensate for the environmental characteristics. The appearance of the interactive space can be altered such the user can perceive the interactive space as intended by the creator of the interactive space.

Abstract: According to one implementation, a floating image display system includes a computing platform including a central processing unit (CPU), a graphics processing unit (GPU), and a system memory storing a software code. The system also includes one or more display screens controlled by the GPU, and a rotor coupled to the one or more display screens and controlled by the CPU. The CPU executes the software code to render a two-dimensional (2D) graphic on the one or more display screens using the GPU, and to spin the rotor and the one or more display screens about a vertical axis parallel to a display surface of the one or more display screens at a predetermined spin rate to generate a floating image of the 2D graphic. The floating image appears to be a three-dimensional (3D) floating image of the 2D graphic to a user viewing the floating image.

Abstract: Systems, methods and articles of manufacture relating to calibration of a magnetometer in an electronic device suitable for use in an augmented reality (AR) and/or virtual reality (VR) video game. An electronic video game device includes a magnetometer. A prompt is displayed in the video game requesting a user-performed first gameplay motion using the electronic video game device where the first gameplay motion is a pre-defined motion used for calibrating the magnetometer. A first plurality of measurements is received from the magnetometer relating to a magnetic field in a physical gameplay environment, where the first plurality of measurements is taken by the magnetometer during the first gameplay motion. The first plurality of measurements is analyzed to detect a magnetic bias in the magnetometer. The magnetometer is calibrated to offset the magnetic bias.
