    摘要: A valve system configured to access the cardiovascular system of a patient includes: (i) a valve body having a lumen therethrough; (ii) a selectively openable resilient first seal, (iii) a compressible second seal including an opening which communicates with the lumen when the second seal is in an open position; (iii) a locking nut movably coupled to the valve body, the locking nut configured to selectively increase and decrease compressive force on the second seal; and (iv) an introducer configured to selectively open the resilient first seal. The introducer has a proximal end and a distal end. The introducer is movably coupled to the locking nut and reciprocates between a first position and a second position within the locking nut. The resilient first seal is in the closed position when the introducer is in the first position and the resilient first seal is in the open position when the introducer is in the second position. The introducer protects elongate instruments such as catheters having stents thereon while the instruments are moved through the resilient seal while the seal is opened by the introducer.

    摘要: A hemostasis valve having an adjustable quick-release mechanism the hemostasis valve includes a tubular body having a lumen therethrough and a compression chamber formed in one end that communicates with the lumen. A resilient compressible seal having a longitudinal passageway aligned with the lumen is disposed within the compression chamber. The compressible seal includes a raised annular portion projecting into the passageway. The compressible seal is configured to selectively seal and unseal the lumen in response to a compressive force exerted on said compressible seal by a plunger. Changing the compressive force exerted by the plunger on the seal allows for selectively and progressively reducing the size of an opening provided by the raised annular portion in the passageway. A quick-release mechanism, comprising a quick-release lever and a quick release assembly, is movably attached to the tubular body and communicates with the plunger. The quick-release mechanism allows the compressible seal to selectively be in a compressible position or in a released position. A spring tends to urge the plunger and seal into a compressed position. However, a rotatable end cap is operably interconnected between the quick-release mechanism and the plunger for progressively adjusting the amount of compression force exerted by the plunger onto the seal in order to selectively compress or release the compressible seal.

    摘要: An electronically controlled syringe system for connection to a balloon catheter for automatically monitoring, displaying and recording inflation or deflation data. A syringe having a barrel and a plunger is used to apply or to release pressure to the balloon catheter or other balloon member. A transducer housed on the barrel of the syringe senses fluid pressures applied by the syringe. An electromagnetic signal output by the transducer is input to a controller where the signal is digitally processed so as to derive and record therefrom electronic data representing the magnitude of applied fluid pressure and the length of time that positive fluid pressure is applied, which derived data is automatically displayed and recorded. The deflation of the balloon-type member is similarly processed and recorded. The controller is also programmable to permit input of various control parameters, such as a maximum positive inflation pressure and maximum duration for applying pressure. Input of the various control parameters can be made a either of two redundant switch sets, where one of the switch sets in located on the syringe barrel.
