摘要: A gripping-knob rotation tool for attachment to a medical guidewire as used in angioplasty and other medical procedures. The tool is installed laterally over the guidewire at any desired position along the length of the wire, and is secured thereto by a simple rotational or twisting motion. The tool provides a convenient gripping surface during rotation or translational movement of the guidewire, and is adjustable for repositioning along the length of the wire after initial engagement.

摘要: A novel catheter apparatus for use in delivering an anesthetic agent or other fluid medicament to the portion of subcutaneous tissue through which a catheter device has been inserted into a patient, thereby allowing the catheter device to be retracted without causing pain or discomfort to the patient. The catheter device has an indwelling cannula adapted for insertion through subcutaneous tissue into a patient's body. A helical sheath is formed from an elongate band that is wrapped around the cannula in a helical fashion so as to be capable of being positioned within the subcutaneous tissue once the cannula has been inserted into the body. The helical sheath has formed therein a lumen into which the anesthetic agent or other fluid medicament can be delivered via a hub that is connected to the proximal end of the helical sheath. The helical sheath has formed therein a plurality of delivery holes that form a fluid communication path with the lumen. The delivery holes permit the anesthetic agent or fluid medicament to be delivered to the surrounding subcutaneous tissue.

摘要: A syringe system for delivering fluid with a volume displacement assembly intensifier for expelling a predetermined volume of fluid from the syringe while activated. A syringe having a barrel and a syringe plunger is selectively operable to deliver fluid from the syringe barrel, and the volume displacement assembly is mounted in fluid communication with the barrel of the syringe. When the volume displacement assembly is activated, a predetermined amount of volume is displaced from the syringe into the balloon of a balloon catheter. Deactivation results in balloon deflation. A predetermined degree of inflation may be reproducibly obtained without the exercise of deliberate care as required with conventional syringes lacking a volume displacement assembly.

摘要: A connector for connecting two catheters and permitting the catheters to rotate relatively, the connector having a collar, a hub and a rotator, the hub and the rotator having an O-Ring therebetween. The rotator overlays the hub and has an internal surface that has a shape that is contoured to the shape of the O-Ring to make a seal therebetween. The hub has a surface at an end thereof with a projection thereon that biases the O-Ring into a sealing contact with the internal contoured surface of the rotator. The collar prohibits the hub from withdrawing from its overlaid position within the rotator by overhanging a surface extending radially from the hub. The hub receives a catheter, at the end opposite its contact with the O-Ring, the catheter wedging within the hub. The rotator received a catheter by an end having a luer lock with a common longitudinal axis about which they are all preferably symmetrical. Each component, including the O-Ring is preferably concentrically aligned.

摘要: The present invention provides a waste collection system including a receptacle housing at least one chamber configured to accept waste and at least one containment layer configured to retain waste within the at least one chamber. The at least one chamber of the at least one containment layer includes a vent to allow gases to escape from the chamber. The at least one containment layer may be configured to quickly deliver waste to an aperture therein. A valve member configured to direct waste into the at least one chamber may be associated with the aperture. A method of using the waste collection system is also provided.

摘要: A line keep includes a substantially flat base having a top surface and an opposing bottom surface. Positioned on the bottom surface is a pressure sensitive adhesive. Extending through the base between the top surface and opposing bottom surface are a pair of spaced apart apertures. A first prong upwardly projects from the top surface of the base and terminates in a horizontally disposed first finger disposed over the first aperture. A second prong projects from the top surface of the base adjacent to the second aperture and terminates at a second finger horizontally disposed over the second aperture. The first finger and second finger face in opposing directions and are configured to project through opposing sides of a vertical reference plane extending through the base between the first and second prong. The prongs can be selectively moved between an upstanding position and a folded position wherein the fingers are positioned adjacent to the line.

摘要: An electronically controlled syringe system for connection to a balloon catheter or other balloon-type member and for monitoring, displaying and optionally recording inflation or deflation data when the syringe system is used to inflate or deflate the balloon of the catheter or other balloon-type member. A syringe having a barrel and a syringe plunger is selectively operable to increase fluid pressure applied to the balloon catheter or other balloon member by sliding the plunger further into the barrel. Positive pressure applied to the balloon catheter or member is released by withdrawing the syringe plunger toward the rear of the barrel. A piezoresistive semiconductor transducer placed in fluid communication with the fluid pressure applied by the syringe, senses the fluid pressure and outputs an electrical signal representative of that pressure. The electric signal is input to a controller where the signal is digitally processed so as to derive and record therefrom electronic data representing the magnitude of applied fluid pressure, and so as also to derive the length of time that fluid pressure is applied. The electronic data representing this information is displayed and optionally recorded. In one embodiment, the electronic signal is received by a detachable and reusable electronic circuit module that detachably mounts to a housing formed on the syringe barrel.
