Disclosed are an apparatus and method for projecting images to prevent the distortion of images when images are projected on a colored projection screen. The apparatus includes a device characteristic storage unit storing criterion projection characteristic information obtained when white light, black light and colored light are projected onto a criterion projection screen, a first image converter to convert received images into processed images by reflecting criterion projection characteristic information to received images, an image characteristic obtaining unit to obtain object projection characteristic information by projecting white light and black light onto an object projection screen, an image improvement unit to convert processed images into improved images by reflecting object projection characteristic information to processed images, and a second image converter to convert improved images into output images by reflecting criterion projection characteristic information and object projection characteristic information to improved images.
Abstract:
A two dimensional/three dimensional (2D/3D) switchable autostereoscopic display apparatus and method. The 2D/3D switchable autostereoscopic display apparatus and method may selectively display a 2D image and 3D image using two displays, control a display operated as backlight from among the two displays when displaying the 2D image, and thereby may increase a contrast. Also, the 2D/3D switchable autostereoscopic display apparatus and method may output a 2D object and a 3D background using two displays.

An apparatus for providing image metadata includes an input unit, an image metadata decoding unit, and an image color temperature converting unit. The input unit receives an input image, metadata corresponding to the color temperature of the input image, and color temperature information preferred by a user. The image metadata decoding unit calculates a color temperature corresponding to the metadata. The image color temperature converting unit converts the color temperature of the input image using the color temperature calculated by the image metadata decoding unit and the color temperature information preferred by a user.

A method, medium and system processing an image signal. The system includes an edge detection module to detect a pixel belonging to an edge in an input image, a period determination module to determine a period of change in pixel values based on a first value of the pixel belonging to the edge and a second value of a pixel that is adjacent to the pixel belonging to the edge, and a signal correction module to correct one or more sub-pixels of the pixel belonging to the edge using a weight allocated according to a result of the determination performed by the period determination module.

Provided is an image display device, more particularly, an apparatus and method that can reduce power consumption and prevent image characteristics from being degraded in an image display device using a multicolor light source. The image display device includes a histogram analysis unit calculating a parameter representative of an input image on the basis of a histogram of the input image, a model selection unit analyzing the parameter and selecting a representative model including the input image among a plurality of representative models, a luminance reduction amount calculation unit calculating a luminance reduction amount for each color light source of the input image on the basis of a maximum luminance reduction rate corresponding to the selected model, a power reduction amount calculation unit calculating a power reduction amount for each color light source according to the luminance reduction amount on the basis of a power characteristic of each color light source, and a power control unit supplying power reduced by the power reduction amount to each color light source.

Provided is a method and apparatus for compensating for a misalignment of an optical modulator. The method includes performing gamma correction on an input signal having M gradation levels and outputting a preprocessed signal; performing a linearization transform on the preprocessed signal, performing a uniformity transform on the linearly transformed signal to limit a region of the linearly transformed signal, and outputting a compensated signal; and receiving the output compensated signal using the optical modulator and outputting a compensated luminance value.

An image browsing apparatus capable of calculating color temperature of an image and browsing the image based on the color temperature, and a method of browsing an image are provided. The image browsing apparatus includes a data storage unit for storing a plurality of image data; a color temperature calculator for calculating the color temperature of each image and storing the calculated color temperature in the data storage unit; a command input unit for inputting an image browsing mode; and a color temperature browser for classifying images corresponding to the browsing mode using the color temperature as an image search condition and then, browsing the classified images. The method of browsing images includes determining the color temperature of an input image when a browsing mode is input; and browsing images when the color temperature falls within the color temperature range of the browsing mode.

A color correction apparatus and method are provided. The color correction apparatus includes: a chromatic region determination module determining a first chromatic region to which an input pixel constituting an input image belongs and a second chromatic region neighboring the first chromatic region on a basis of specified chromatic region division information; a polynomial regression operation module performing polynomial regression on the first chromatic region and the second chromatic region; and a blending module providing corrected pixel information for the input pixel by giving weight values to results of the polynomial regression on the first chromatic region and the second chromatic region. The color correction method includes: determining the first and second chromatic regions; performing polynomial regression on the first and second chromatic regions; and providing corrected pixel information for the input pixel by giving weight values to results of the polynomial regression on the first and second chromatic regions.
